This appeals to only a few good recruits...and ZERO blue chips. Hell...look at USC...they had something like 3, 5 star recruits at RB...and still landed McKnight! Kids want to play at big time programs...even if that means you sit for a year or two. Don't kid yourself.

No

The caliber of player that we want would rather go to LSU and compete for a national championship than take the easy way out and go to a Tech and not challenge himself.

I'll call "bullshite" on this one. Most LSU fans actively support other in-state schools.

Agreed. It's the same as the "everybody in Lafayette hates LSU" thing. LSU has many fans in the Acadiana area and most of those fans support the other state schools in their endeavors as well. You have your lunatic fringe in every fan base that absolutely despises any institution other than theirs. Fact is, you can see many of our lunatics right here on TD!!!!

i am a tech fan and grad. not an lsu hater, just ambivalent about lsu mostly. anyone reasonable understands the pecking order and that lsu has the $, conference, state suppport, etc. to be the superior team in the state. but as a tech fan, we think we are #2 in that spot and hopefully will gain some more ground. now if lsu continues to falter (early 90's tigers) for a few years, tech could make significant in roads in recruiting, especially if we can hang on to dooley for 2-3 more years. who knows about next year's game? hard to predict what college athletes will do tomorrow much less a year from now. if these two teams played tomorrow, i think it would be a very competetive game. see you in november 2009.

Dooley has more control of the situation to get the money. Don't kid yourself about the funding. Tech will be a force to recon with.

I saw that and thank you for doing so. I spewed my coffee when I read his statement. That's just funny that he even would think so.

absolutely not. USC, Bama, UF, etc. promising playing time would snatch a viable recruit from a comparable powerhouse. A small mid major will never poach on an SEC power no matter how much playing time they promise. Just reality holmes.

oh, I got a pretty good idea. LSU will be back to status quo and you can take that to the bank.
