In regards to Mett, is he a student of the game?

Does anyone think he puts in the time and effort to get better? Extra throws after practice to work on timing with his receivers? Film study to scout potential weaknesses in the opponent?
I just worry about him mentally. He has the tools, but when he dressed up in a costume to go to the stadium, red flags went off.
I know we all blame the coaches for the lack of success, but Mett appears to be regressing with his throwing accuracy and pocket awareness. One has to question just how serious he takes the position of being the starting QB for one of the best programs in the nation.

He's a college student. Not the end of the world and his teammates probably thought it was funny and like him better for it.

Word in the offseason was that he spent a ton of time in film study.
For what it's worth, no quarterback will ever be successful when a large number of pass attempts come on one-man routes where the single option is double-covered. And that's not to excuse him staring down receivers on occasion... just pointing it out.

Often times it appears as if he has decided where the ball is going in the huddle and not reading the defense and making necessary adjustments..

The more I watch him play, the worse he looks. The manner in which he plays, his lost look, the way he seems disconnected from what's going on, it all reminds me of watching JJ play. Which brings up the obvious question of coaching & preparedness.

And when the receiver or tight end gets rare seperation he overthrows it or throws it in the stands.

He is a college student, but when someone is getting a free ride from the university and has gobs of media attention on them, they should act like someone who is serious about his job as a college football QB.
I seriously doubt his teammates liked him for it, because it's obvious he's not even the leader of the team on offense.

He is struggling but let's hope he can improve. He was close on those deep balls, but close doesn't cut it.

I think everyone remembers his Ron Burgundy get up with his cheesy porno mustache in an attempt to get attention. College Gameday had fun with it. It was all funny until he played like shite that night. Needless to say, the stache disappeared the next day

His approach to the game of football has been more like the kid who grabbed a chicks privates and less like Murray's, the guy who beat him out and is getting high praise about his approach, preparation, and accurtacy with great game decisions.
I am very afraid of what I see in his physical actions...I have to believe they are a reflection of his attitude/approach and preparing

I hope I'm wrong but I think he's a complete douche. He reminds me of Jay Cutler. He doesn't exude any leadership qualities at all in the game or on the sideline. it doesn't look like the team has any confidence either.

I get a sense, from what can be observed in his behavior on TV, that he lacks true conviction in regard to leadership, the game and the work he needs to accomplish. The passion that I see in so many college QB's, young ones who were no better than 3 stars out of HS, is lacking with Mett. Maybe confidence, motivation, whatever....but that special something that comes off a QB who expects to play at the next level is missing. However, that seems to be the model that Miles et al enjoy having in their system. They don't want a superstar QB, or at least the record would appear to show that.

I also don't like that he sits alone on the sideline instead of rallying his receivers and o-line. It's the little things that add up

It has been my opinion that he doesn't do what it takes to be elite. I would love to hear any stories about his work ethic, but apparently, they don't exist. Everyone blames the coaches,but you cannot coach work ethic.
NFL arm, but that seems to be it. It's still enough to win with this defense.

From watching him, I think the top problem isn't attitude or leadership. I see 2 issues. One is mechanics, he has a tendency to rush throws without setting his feet. Next time you see one of his passes sail watch the replay carefully, generally you will see a pass rusher about 2 steps away and Mett throwing the ball quickly off his back foot instead of taking the time to set and throw properly. He hasn't realized yet that he has enough time to throw right and doesn't need to rush it so much, hopefully the game will "slow down" for him a bit and he'll work that out. The other issue is play calling. The coaches haven't put him in a position to succeed, they never quit on the running game when they are getting stuffed with 8-9 defenders in the box but a couple of dropped passes and they quit on the pass. It's a philosophy common to a Les Miles coached team, and I can't see that part changing ever.
