Bill Self has a lifetime contract at a blue blood, an unlimited recruiting budget, a license to do whatever the hell he wants, and a school admin that told the NCAA to go frick themselves.

He isn't leaving for ANY job, for ANY amount of money.

The school and coaches are never allowed to pay players.

LSU is a blueblood program in football, and Woodward could (and did) attract a coach from another blueblood program.

LSU is a blueblood program in baseball, and Woodward could (and did) attract one of the top coaches in the field.

LSU has been a blueblood program in women's basketball, and that plus the fact that she is from Louisiana allowed Woodward to land Mulkey, as great a coach as there is in the game.

LSU is NOT a blueblood men's basketball program and Woodward can't hire at the same level that he could with the other vacancies. That doesn't mean he can't hire a great coach, but there's no reason to think that a coach from a major program would leave that school to come to LSU. People need to realize that this hire will probably not be as splashy as his three previous hires.
