arse chewing doesn't equate to being successful HC.

It's amazing the number of fans who want to see a
correlation between the two when there is none.

Wooden was the most calm HC on a sideline I have even seen.

nice win last night. trent has a ton of work to do still if he wants to repair the damage of the last two seasons.

Let me try this again since several of you clearly missed the point.

At most schools poor shot selection earns you a seat on the bench at the next horn, accompanied by an earful of "coaching".

there. happy?

you dont' have to apologize for that.
if a kid can't take a little butt chewing for playing like he's at the rec, then maybe there's a bigger problem than his shot selection.
pussification of america.

Team has very little discipline, especially on shot selection. and it's been like that since trent got here.
if your not Jay Williams, or Reddick, or McNamara, or someone along those lines, don't continuously shoot 3's from 5 feet behind the line, especially if you've never proved your capable of helping your team win by doing that.

and they do a lot of watching and just stupid things on defense at times. things that should have been drilled into your habits in practice so that you don't have to think about doing those things in the game, they just come naturally.
Something as simple as keeping the guy with the ball on a fastbreak on the outside, and not letting him get to the middle of the court. defense 101.

Its easy to be calm when you have Kareem Abdul Jabbar and Bill Walton playing for you.

they generally give good effort and play hard

but man the O is just a joke- they do play lock down D though

Guy has to show he can get better talent to LSU, that's what it comes down to and the jury still is out on that one

nice win though, hung in there and fought which is all I ask as a fan

I have to say i have been frustrated with some of his play calls and the way our team plays. But i think he will be a good coach, not a great coach but not a terrible coach.
he has brought in some studs too
Anthony Hickey
Johnny O Bryant III
John Issac
Justin Hamilton
As long as he can get a big center to come in within the next two years we will be fine.

I think all of you have gotten so used to mediocrity in basketball that your giving the absolute worst coach and recruiter in LSU BB history a pass. Last one out of the PMAC turn out the lights, its over!

Agreed. I'm not that knowledgeable about basketball, but what does stand out to me from what I have seen, is there has been improvement from last year to this year. Yeah, from what I have seen, they still have a lot of work, but Trent has them going in the right direction it appears, IMHO.

LSU played one if its best games when you look at the turnover margin and Miss State played one of its worst games. LSU still needed OT to win. Like Alabama playing with 4 starters out and it took a late game push to win. Trent is not the solution to having a great basketball team. Its time to get someone who can bring in some exciting players. Hickey could be but my gawd he takes some stupid shots(some being 5 a game). Trent is a coach who can somewhat coach big men, he cannot coach guards. He got lucky and made a big run with the Lopez twins and he is now lucky Hamilton transferred to LSU because he will help LSU make the NIT. We need an exciting, upbeat coach. I think many would endorse paying Wojo from Dukes assistant staff more than we are paying Trent to come in and bring the excitement back.

I'm proud of the way the players fought last night. Got some real heart on this team.

That said, I'm still ready for a coaching change. Trent's offense is abysmal.

Its not like Miss St's turnovers were unforced throws out of bounds....

LSU had 15 steals.

We only hit 25% of our 3 pointers and still won.

We didn't even play the first 15 minutes and came back from 17 down.

We were able to hold Moultrie who had 28 the first game to only 10.

We did all this against a team that is ranked and has some solid talent.

We did this all after a season of only winning 3 SEC games.

We did all this on a night where there were maybe 2,000-3,000 fans to come see LSU play in one of, it not its most important game of the season.

People also think its gonna get better with a change. Most good coaches wouldn't come to LSU due to the fact's stated above. I think TJ has done a good job this season and will continue to get better as he make pipeline's and learns what southern recruits want to hear.

I am all for TJ. I like how he competes. Though many may not see it cause he doesn't yell all over the court, you can tell they respect him. We have a Les Miles type of coach and everyone wants a Nick Saban. Wait for the results and then you will all be pleased.,

Miss State is about to go on a downward spin. You can tell how gassed that team is. They have talent but only a small amount. They only have 6 good players. They all play entirely too long of minutes each game and it is going to show in the second half of SEC play like it did last night. They are ranked but there RPI was 42 and will be in the 50's now. Its not like they are locks for the Tourney. They played a very sloppy game.

So we have a CEO type coach who hires great assistants? How many times in Trents career did he lose an assistant to a head job?

I agree that State may not make the tournament, but I think that for LSU to not shoot the ball very well and still win the game shouldn't be discounted. It was a good game. It was fun to watch and I don't think most people realize that getting rid of TJ means another coach will ahve to come in and start all over. Could be another 4 years before he sets up decent pipelines and such.

Im tired of hearing the it will take 4 years to turn around. Tons a college basketball coaches make turn arounds in 2 season. Look at Anthony Grant at Bama for most recent. It isnt like football where you have 4-5 totally different systems. Its easier to turn around a basketball team than Football mainly because you only need 1 great player.

Can't argue with results. 2 championships in 3 years. Give me a Nick MF'n Saban all day every day.
