Sometimes our competition doesn't warrant much excitement.

Of course, their exit is generally more subdued than ours.
If you lived in Louisiana, or any hurricane prone area, you would realize how stupid most of this post was.

Jeez folks. You're taking my posts way too personally. Again, the main purpose was to finally bow to the SEC. I would love to see a night game at Tiger Stadium! I was hoping for that when the schedule was first released. I understand why the seats weren't filled and why it wasn't a typical gameday atmosphere. However, were any of you not disappointed about how the university introduced your LSU Tigers, the defending national champions? I imagined seeing the trophy on the field, etc.
Oh well, it's okay. I'm not regreting my decision to drive 24 hours round trip to watch the game, even though we (the school that has a track around our football field) got schalacked. We did put up a better fight than VT did last year, right? We ASU fans really appreciate the invite and hospitality. Every LSU fan around us was great. I hope you folks didn't have too much damage to your homes and businesses. You guys have been in our prayers. Good luck for the rest of the season.

We did that earlier this year. Les Miles has made a point of telling everyone this is a new team. It's time to move on and not focus on the past. We celebrated our National Championship...we didn't need to hoist the crystal ball. I thought it was odd ASU brought their trophy with them.
The 2007 team is gone, just like LSU, you aren't defending anything. I wish you the best in 2008, but we don't have to tell everyone over and over we won. We know.

If you've been listening to Les Miles the last few months (and there's no reason you necessarily should have been) you'd know that the last thing he wants (and what Les wants, or doesn't want, in this regard is gospel) is for this team to think of itself as the "defending" National Champs. This team isn't defending anything. It doesn't need defending. The trophy is in Baton Rouge to stay. He has been beating that drum with the team and the media since the post-BCSCG celebration in Tiger Stadium where the trophy was rolled out--just before it got put in the trophy case next to the others. The raising of the flag, and the flyover, were the last official references to the '07 championship. This is the '08 team, and if they're going to win anything, it will be in part because they put last year behind them.

Okay, that makes sense. I guess I just wanted to see that crystal in person. As a season ticket holder for Clemson as well, I don't think I'll ever see it!!!

One more thing and I'm gone...please beat Georgia!

Thanks again...glad you came to visit and got back safely.

APPST03, I can understand from your point. It was not the ideal Tiger Stadium experience and I know you have heard a lot about that experience over the last few months. We Tiger fans are as serious about how we do the games as we are about how we win them.
Game day is an art practiced by many Tiger fans. We plan all week, start early and relish the day. It culminates in that stadium to create a magical experience - frenzied, bourbon-soaked, bleeding purple and gold experience! Sorry you missed that, but come back again (aim for an SEC opponent)and forgive us for being touchy. It has been a rough couple of days for many and they've got even more to come with the clean-up.

usually we roll out the corpse of Huey p long to the imperial march. Then the band plays Carmina Burana while the players march out in the formation of a skull. We then slaughter a few moose and ox and every fan feasts on the blood of children born to our opponents.
Greatest post ever!

Not to meantion that during the game, it was projected that the hurricane would be a monster cat 4 at landfall rather than a cat 2 it ended up.

It was just like the Girl's Field Hockey National Championship Trophy.

However, I must say, the Death Valley experience was rather lame, especially as the Tigers took the field. I know it wasn't a typical day, but c'mon. This was the first home game after the NC. Maybe it's cause I grew in the "real" Death Valley where an entrance is important. But even App makes the entrance more exciting. The ROCK with 28,000 makes more noise than Tiger Stadium with 65,000. Maybe it doesn't matter too much, but you know what they say about first impressions.
Don't take our word for it...

"Since his arrival last December, Cutcliffe has worked almost as hard to generate enthusiasm for the Duke program as he has to coach the Blue Devil team. Last week, he admitted to begging for support, claiming that’s all he could do at that point. He painted a beautiful picture of what he was hoping to achieve – citing the atmosphere at Tiger Stadium in Baton Rouge before an LSU game as the ideal college football environment."

Thank you for the compliment.
Hurricane preparation is more important than football. 18 lives have been lost to Gustavo.
Come back to Death Valley one Saturday night and you will see the real deal. In fact, I will provide you with a free ticket if you'd like to see a game this season.
Good luck to Appy. Every fan I encountered from your school were cool fans.

You do realize it was kinda like spring game, right. Not a whole lot to get pumped up about. Knowing you have bought a 28+ point victory is kinda boring.

All pregame and postgame festivities were canceled for this game.

Sorry, but Clemson's LBs were as big as our DBs. It won't be so easy to run on us.
