This is a positive thread. I’m saying that Jay is finding who who can come through and who can’t. He’s learning about this team on the fly as a brand new coach. It’s all fine as long as he doesn’t repeat the moves that don’t work. Where Paul liked to mess with who starts from game to game, Jay seems like the guy who like to sub a ton at the end either for defense or offense while keeping the starting lineup relatively consistent. All good. Just different approaches.

Ell

What are your thoughts on Johnson not at least tinkering more with the infield? If the errors keeps piling up you would think some changes need to be made right

Doughty had an error and Floyd had an error. I don’t see the need to move Doughty because of today. Pleasantly surprised at how Berry played 3rd.

Fans never change.
Last week there was a post, "Rank the Coaches" The object was to slam Wade.
Then Men's Basketball beats Bama.
Women's Basketball loses big, to Ky.
Baseball loses big to the Number 1 team.
I guess Kelly is the only winner left who deserves his job.

I think Jay, Wade, Mulkey and Kelly all have proven the don't need a lesson on winning.

Is Hilliard hurt?

Johnson said he doesn't know who's pitching today.

Dugas and Merrifield being removed in 4 run games for freshmen was weird

The Dugas move made sense. He looked god awful against Stevens in his first few abs. Getting Pearson in to face the righty wasn’t a bad move imo.

It’s the Merrifield move I don’t agree with. I guess he felt he needed a stronger outfield against UT? DiGiacomo did make a great play in right and had a hit though so idk. I think if that’s the way you want to go in this game then you DH Berry, pull Jobert and leave Merrifield at 3rd.

Tbh, none of those moves were what lost that game. Two errors and Stevens was just dealing. I would bet that Thompson and MaManus want those two bases loaded ABs back though.

I don’t think he cares about any opinions here. Are you saying TD shouldn’t exist because our posts don’t matter in any real sense?

I can't tell if Jay just has a really short string on Dugas and Merrifield or if he's just using those spots to get guys in the game. Thompson, Milazzo, and Jobert seem to have much longer leashes.

Am I the only one who thought the intentional walk to the 8 hole hitter in the second inning with two outs was a terrible decision??

Berry should be the DH. We have positional players in the OF and at 3rd that can swing and not make errors.

Exactly this early season is to get people work. The SEC season is challenging and to make it anywhere in the post season you have to have guys with experience. You have got to get guys some at bats and playing time when the games don’t matter as much. You obviously aren’t totally blowing these games off but you are LSU and you should have guys you can count on if someone is injured, someone is struggling, lefty vs righty matchups etc etc. This is about finding out who is a gamer and getting some guys some playing time
