The narrative is that we dumped Wade to avoid sanctions... so does that mean Woodward screwed that up too?
What difference would "Sanctions" have made?
Miss the tournament for a couple of years?
When is this team going to a tournament?
When is this team going to have a winning SEC season?
When will it win another SEC game?Ole Miss?

In his defense, the whole team essentially transferred out when he got here. He had to assemble a whole new team in a few months. You can't get good results having to do that.

Well, he's not getting fired this year, and he's my coach and I'll give him the benefit of the doubt while at the same time having many concerns.
At the beginning of the year almost unanimously we gave him kudos for cobbling together what looked like a serviceable team that at the very least would not embarrass themselves in the SEC. That sentiment was shared by most analysts of the sport, being picked to finish anywhere from 8th to 10th in the SEC and honestly more on the high side of that.
Now the debate is whether or not that evaluation was bad and the talent was/is much worse than thought, or there have been some growing pains for a coach at this level and this team is regressing as the year evolves.
I think it's a bit of both and we can debate the degree to which one is more accurate than the other.
So now we are left to hope he learns and improves as a coach at this level. That some of the players he gets back next year develop and improve and he evaluates talent better and gets some folks in the portal with some upside and recruits that can come in and help immediately.
That's my hope. I do want him to succeed.

quote:Well yes, that was the year before last. I think everyone would agree that going pro in 2021 would have been a bad decision. As to him transferring to another team, I felt he would benefit most from another team that would feature him more as a scorer, and not a 3 point specialist. A different coach who could improve his game. The slip screens he was getting at the end of last year should have been the type of plays he should have been given all along.
Oh no, you misunderstand.
He didn’t think days should go pro. He thought days should’ve transferred to a different school.

The idea of Having to construct an ENTIRE team out of thin air has eluded most ranters. That being said, there doesn’t seem to be a lot of adjustments during the losing streak.

We had multiple players return from last years team and Coach Mc brought 3 of his own from last years Murray St team and also stated he could have brought more.
We're not playing the Tuba Section.

And that’s why you’re an idiot that should never be taken seriously on any topic.
After 3 years learning wade’s system and establishing himself at lsu while never being more than #4 scoring option due to other, more talented scorers also on the roster, days was entering last season as the most experienced player, undisputed #1 option, and clear leader of the team.
And you thought the best thing for him would’ve been to leave that situation. fricking moron

How many minutes per game did those players play last year?

However, the truth is Mwani played the most minutes by a wide margin and is injured. Williams saw action and Miller was out the entire year, but would have played a lot.

I would argue having almost zero minutes returning from last year is not cherry picking. Doesn’t mean I think the guy is a good coach..but it’s worth noting.

He has an eight year contract with a good buyout. Scotty knew that this was a train wreck and going to be some time. Give him some time he’ll turn it around

Now, if he didn’t get KJ for reference, I would agree. But it’s not truthful to say we started from scratch with no chance to assemble a team.

He is going to get some time. Woodward isn't going to can his choice after a few years unless a cause occurs.
But to say he will turn it around is unproven at this point. Time will tell.

Scott Drew’s Baylor teams were pretty awful his first 3 years at Baylor. It worked out for them, eventually.

We weren't even playing a good team. And not at full strength. And we were at home. Sometimes I can hyperbole, but that was one of the most disappointing losses. It's not like we're playing for higher stakes as in past years, we were playing to survive and we outright looked dumbfounded.

I haven’t seen anything so far to make me think it’ll get better next year. It’s a pretty terrible feeling TBH.
