Not the finished product yet but capable of making plays when we need them. Our 3rd down conversion rate was good and he made some big time throws. I also saw him play the safety with his eyes and make a few reads that neither QB last year could make.

His biggest problem right now is batted balls. More stuff he'll fix down the line.

Pull yourself together. Careless interception, batted passes and a fade route that my 6 year old son could have connected on?

Get a grip...."impressed" is a strong word.

Could your 6 yr old do it against the Scar front 7 that made Aaron Murray look like a water boy? This was a lot of progress for Mett. Make no mistake about it.

I liked the pregame mett and the look of being in control. It wasn't his best game but he was leading the team in the pregame huddle and in the fourth quarter

I saw some good things, hit some big passes. Make a couple bad throws but had a few drops as well, and a lot of batted down.

I'll take the big conversion plays, and think I saw improvement in a couple areas

Mett hangs in and throws a great deep ball.

I saw improvement as well but he still isn't executing at the level we expected or high enough for many on here. Bottom line for me is, I will take him over the two we had last year. At the end of the year we will probably start to see some of the potential relaized. First year qb is gonna have growing pains.........period

This was a legit SEC defense that shut down and almost shut out a high powered SEC offense last week. The numbers don't tell the entire story.

The kid needs work. But he's on the right track.

Needs to let er rip and not try and float/aim the ball everytime.

Balls are batted because we throw a total of 63 slants per game. The def line has quit rushing and they just jump to bat balls down.

The fade was a bad throw, but LSU doesn't have a WR to even run a fade with so that's why we're having to use a TE. I much rather have run it with hill there since we were on the 3. But oh well.

When Mett threw the pick, he started throwing away from defenders and it affected his play. I much rather him throw that ugly fade throw than him throw another pick.

And Connor Shaw's pick was much worse.

I thought Mett did ok. Not great, but decent.

Mettenberger is improving a game at a time. He's not quite average, yet. He might be impressive by the end of the season, though

How many batted balls did he have? A pump-fake would have been amazing tonight

Thought for sure they were setting up for it early in the game.

Mett seemed to have been regressing from week to week after UW until tonight. I think tonight was definitely a step in the right direction. Hopefully he has it all put together for UA.

Yeah. Agree.

Some negatives:
The fade was a bad throw. The INT wasn't so much a bad throw as it was a bad choice. He showed poor pocket presence once (that I can remember) and got sacked. The miss to Landry for the TD is on Mett, but Landry didn't exactly help him out with his route. The 3rd down throw to OBJ on the sideline was high, but it did hit him in both hands. Not a gimme but catchable.

The batted balls sucked, but I don't really blame Mett. Just good defense.
Had another long one to Wright that was barely tipped. Could easily have been a TD. Not blaming Wright. Would have been tough catch. But it was a pretty good throw.

positives:
Mett stood in the pocket and didn't seem to get rattled. He made a couple of nice throws and converted third downs, including plays in which he got hit.

Even though the positive list is short, those are some pretty big positives.

A couple of the batted balls would have cost SCAR big had they not been batted. As his touch improves, you'll see less batted balls.

The doubters are crazy. Has he been perfect, no. News flash, qb's sometimes throw interceptions. The difference is that other coaches don't curl into the fetal position and refuse to throw again like Les Miles does. Notice that tonight, the more passes we threw, the more comfortable Mett got. I truly believe that Les Miles preaches no turnovers so much, that our qb's become gun shy. Every pass that ament missed after the pick tonight was missed away from the defense. Mett has a ton of ability, but our junior high-ish passing attack doesn't allow him to succeed.
