Does anyone else get the sudden urge to climb to the top of the stadium and jump to certain death when 110 decibels of "I'm from Louisiana" starts playing at TS? Just curious.

First, we need to listen to the actual song and listen to what it's actually about.
Bitch, I'm From Louisiana (Explicit Lyrics
Listen to that intro and feel the hate dissipate. That's as direct of state pride as you'll hear.
I whitened up the lyrics for those who can't understand:
Sorry, but I am all for this song. People lose their shite on top recruits that leave state, but then people hate this song being used. This kind of state pride is the stuff that we absolutely need to use to our advantage in recruiting. It also has the effect of getting the only guys that matter to me (the players) hyped.
I don't give a damn what any of the haters want played. I don't want to hear that sister-fricker Jerry Lee Lewis playing, and their classic rock options are tired.
I'm a 32 year old who doesn't listen to rap. There was a time when I did, but I grew out of that. Still, I have no issue at all with this song and really appreciate what it means to the program.
For those that can't hear "Louisiana," I really don't know what to say. They articulate it differently than you do. Really, they just emphasize the second syllable instead of the typical 4th syllable. They also de-emphasize the 3rd syllable, as well, but it's still there.

quote:
Do you know what?
I'm proud to say I'm from Louisiana
Ain't no other place like this in the world, you feel me?
You come down here and everything slows down
We walk different
We talk different
We move different
There's a different smell in the air
We go through adversity and bounce back like a warrior every time; believe that
They say we're country, but we are more hip than they are
Some of the most beautiful people, kind-hearted you'll ever meet
But please don't get me wrong
If you come down here and start trouble, you may not make it out
I would like to welcome y'all to the Boot

I don't like the song or mind the song. I'd rather it than a song from an okie cowpoke about whoring it up in Baton Rouge, though. Even Louisiana Saturday Night was written by a texan and performed by an okie, but the whole Saturday night game in Louisiana makes it kind of unavoidable.

agreed, it's the repitition that makes it unbearable. really really bad.

I thought it was saying "Pop goes the weasel" the first time I heard it

I thought at first it was 'nuh nuh nuh nunya bizz nas... nunya bizz nas...' or weeza
I only found out about it being about Louisiana here.
