Mett was AT LEAST as ready to play last year as Kenny Hilliard was. And we needed him more.

And Hilliard had more accomplished upperclassmen in front of him.

Excellent point. Again, the sphinx-like CLM provides us with no clues. I am persuaded that there was something more to the JJ deal than meets the eye. Very curious.

Unless Mett was going to play Right Tackle against Bama, he would not have been much help.

You must have missed the NC game. I really don't understand your logic on this one. We are all guilty of homerism from time to time, but come on.

You questioned why JJ was playing. I stated the obvious: Lee sucking arse in the first Alabama game. I'm not the coach. I thought both Lee and JJ sucked. But I also think we lack perspective on many things and this conversation is dumb at this point.

The reason Mett didn't get meaningful snaps is because we were going to stick with the seniors regardless. Les didn't want Mett playing meaningful snaps because it would have been obvious he should have been the starting QB.

If this is true, then CLM has some kind of tragic coaching flaw. LSU generated all of 92 yards of O and 5, yes 5 first downs. His commitment to a losing game plan defies any rational explanation.

You rantards kill me. I hate this board during football season. We face rape a PAC-12 team and y'all come on here bitching about how many snaps our third string quarterback got last year. Jesus fricking Christ, you people are pathetic and miserable. What if Miles had stuck Mettenberger in the BCSCG after half time and he would have been seriously injured? How would you feel starting the season with a gun shy quarterback who missed all of spring practice?

No it isn't a good point comparing a running back to a QB. Right answer for the wrong reason. Mett has BEEN out of high school. He was the best QB on the team last year and everyone on the team knew it, I knew it, Les knew it and anyone that has followed Mettenburger knew it.

Les almost certainly felt that Mett hadn't earned it over the seniors. He had his reasons for not starting Mett and I don't blame Miles for it but there is no doubt Mett was our best option last year.

The last thing I'll say about the NC game. Remember both the second half in both the UGA and Arkansas games? You think Miles ever thought that we would kick it into gear in the second half? I'm not saying that is right, but it's not ridiculous to think considering the preceding two games where we played like dogshit in the first half and gangbusters in the second. It's over, I can't change it, hopefully we can have a great year this year and finally move on.

I actually questioned why ZM didn't get more reps last year, FTR. He obviously was capable. I don't think you have to be the HC to see that.

We were winning. Didn't want to disturb the balance.

Yet Les did exactly that! We were winning with JL but Les "disturbed the balance" by inserting JJ.

Les was never going to play Mett over JJ. Les wouldn't have played Tom Brady over JJ.

Just be thrilled that we have a QB will QB skills.

Hopefully Les will let Zach come out and play.

I guess because he was 3rd string. How many snaps did Rivers take last night or Bolden?

Yep. In reality, we played two elite defenses last year - Georgia and Alabama - our offense struggled in both because 1) we couldn't consistently run the ball with authority and 2) couldn't stand up to the pass rush.

Our offense was excellent as long as we could do the two things above.

Again, what about the first Alabama game confuses posters?

I think the OP was referring to the qb play LAST year. I would assume you were not.

Why the frick do you think he didn't get meaningful PT last year, asswipe? We completed the best regular season in school history and won the SEC Championship with him on the bench. Why the frick would anyone in their right mind try to change up the momentum our team had last season.

He who resorts to name calling has lost the argument. Did you not take your medicine today or are you just incapable of holding abstract thoughts long enough to generate a relevant opinion?

Can you explain this? What difference does that make given the opening question. You should re-read it, if you read it at all. Why was Mett not given snaps during the season full of blow outs to hone his in game passing skills? What is so pathetic and miserable about that, Mr. Fan(atic)?

Mett was the best qb on the team last year and CLM infatuation likely cost LSU MNC.

We were 13-0 at the end of the year. Had miles put Mett in and we lost, morons would be screaming why did he play him.

Why did we play 13 games and not see more of Mett, he could have known what he had by that time.
