has arrived. big Ed Ingram! good chance we'll be opening some holes on that left side when he is inserted back in the lineup.

until then, throw Joe throw! (and after).

Online plays as a unit. The unit as a whole has to block better.

The “cure” is to mix up formations and get DOWNHILL - whether it’s in I, Ace, pistol, or offset gun the back needs to be in a position to run towards the LOS instead of side-to-side.

I’m sick of the RB standing right beside the QB every play.

What a loser. We finally get a modern offense and you want to complain just to complain

We are third in the nation in offensive efficiency according to the S+P. We ain't changing shite when you are only behind OU in offensive production.

I don't know man we've run downhill and gone vertical the past 8 or 10 years.

You mean like Alvin Kamara?

Hard to justify running when we are lighting people up in the pass game.

DOWNHILL...instead of side-to-side.

"Downhill" refers to running down off the crown of the field, literally down hill - which requires running from the middle of the field towards the sideline.

I think the word you're looking for here is, "DOWNFIELD".

Downfield:

adverb

adverb: downfield; adjective: downfield; adverb: down-field; adjective: down-field

1. (in sport) in or to a position nearer to the opponents' end of a field.

You're welcome.

I don’t get how you people don’t get this. We are literally just using the running back to keep teams honest and not drop 8 in coverage every play. We have no intention of relying on the running game this year. We will use it, but the pass attack is our primary threat.

With that being said, CEH has done his job admirably so far and once the freshmen are deemed ready to pass block I expect the running game to be much improved.

The cures will be playing 1st Q instead of late game or not at all. #Free3&4

eh, I'm going to agree with you for the most part. Would love to see some, or all, of those varying sets integrated.

In fact, I think once the coaches are more comfortable with all the RBs, especially the 2 future superstar freshmen, they will indeed be integrated.

To be cliche', baby steps... it's a brand new offense with 3 games behind us and 2 frosh RBs chomping at the bit. Comfort level first (check), a warm fuzzy feeling about a STABLE of RBs (in-progress) then varying the formation sets (coming soon).

The biggest issue will be timing/steps. You don't want to run RPOs with bad timing and new RBs where the timing varies that much and get a slew of fumbles.

That’s an issue. We have several talented backs. They need carries from formations allowing them to run north/south

Go into the meat of the SEC schedule with no running game and it will go downhill quickly.

So, what you're saying is, I've had enough of this new offense. Bring back the toss dive!

They will get that. But we are not going to sacrifice passing and the spread formation for run blocking. We just aren’t gonna do that.

You would do well to remember JE and TDP are true freshmen.

The toss dive resulted in a lot of big plays. Don’t know why it became a meme that it was an ineffective play.

Clyde is a very underrated and solid back.

But you can run behind a dominant run blocker
