outside of the south and southwest, no body cares about college baseball. Go to a game at USC,UCLA, Pepperdine, etc there is nobody in the stands.
things probably changed in the centuries since I attended the U of Kentucky for a couple of years, but I recall walking by the baseball field when an SEC game was going on, stopping for a minute to watch a guy from Lake Charles who played 1B for U of K, whom I knew from L.C., have his at-bat, and then going on.
There were 16 people in the stands.

Nobody outside of the actual teams care about college baseball until the College Baseball World Series. This is a simple excuse for SEC fans to find yet another reason not to accept WVU. College baseball players simply weren't good enough in high school to be drafted. Last I checked college baseball regular season isn't even on TV. If you have time to travel to Morgantown to watch your school's baseball team play a game then I suggest you pick up a book.

Um, do you have any clue how big SEC baseball is, especially LSU? It's a LOT bigger deal than you think. College baseball is a part of SEC sports culture.

My point is that if College Basketball isn't considered in conference realignment then college baseball might a well be a fart in the wind...because it is.

Not flaming you but this is the type of post expected from a fan of a school with no baseball relevancy.

They shouldn't be allowed in based on this reason alone.

Yeah ... because none of the SEC school's really cared about baseball until expansion came along.

No I am realistic...It is about dollars and cents...not academics and sure as hell not about non-football sports...
You think the major media outlets consider this when negotiating major tv deals for college football
"Well Mr. Slive, we are in love with your football product. But what are you plans for baseball if you accept WVU? And we gotta tell ya, the SAT scores of your incoming freshman are not impressive especially at WVU."

I know this is hard for you to understand, but we REALLY DO like baseball in this league. I haven't watched an MLB game in years, but I pay to listen to LSU baseball online in the spring.
Furthermore, LSU actually makes money on baseball.
I know what you're thinking
Also, I'm not pretending that I don't know what drives the boat around here, but just pointing out that we really do like baseball. It's not some sort of joke.

well the post I quoted saying you are cluless had nothing to do with this.
you said nobody outside of the team cares until the world series. WRONG
you said college players weren't good enough to play MLB out of highschool. WRONG
you said regular season games arent on TV. WRONG
and I guarantee you LSU, Arkansas, South Carolina and other fan bases would travel to WVU to watch the baseball series
ETA: reading it back you didnt make a single point about what you posted next in your original post, your first one was a blantant clueless and wrong attack on something you apparently know nothing about

Thats just sad and personally I hope the SEC doesn't invite them to the league...

I will take your word for it. But conference realignment has absolutely nothing to do with baseball (thinking you agree with this). Oliver Luck can add baseball seats at will and the request of Slive. So to my original point is that this is just another SEC excuse not to accept WVU.
It all comes down to TV sets. The myth of Missouri and their hold on the Kansas City and St. Louis market will keep WVU out of the SEC if Missouri take a leap of faith to the basement of the SEC West. This is the same reason for the ACC to "deny" WVU in favor of UCONN or Rutgers because they assume the Northeast cares about college football. I am from Harrisburg, PA and anything north of (Penn) State College doesn't care about college football. I was in NYC last month and no one was wearing anything related to Rutgers or UCONN. Yet I could spot WVU gear there...and in Pittsburgh...and in DC. Check out how many students who went to WVU are from New Jersey.
Still...WVU will remain in the Big East until a BCS conference realizes their potential in the PA, MD, NJ and WV markets. Yes I am a WVU grad...but I went to WVU because of the sporting atmosphere. I firmly believe that the Best fit for WVU is the ACC (longstanding rivalries and already recruit heavily in Maryland and Florida), SEC would be a financial dream for WVU and a good fit for basketball (but bball doesn't matter), BIG 12 a final resort...Big East worst case scenario.
Someone will land WVU...if they get over the fact that state boundaries have nothing to do with WVU's reach and if they get over SAT scores of incoming freshman (because that is just stupid).
