so he would have his best pitcher available for the Championship

I don't think so. Can you imagine the melt if LSU got eliminated in the "if necessary" game with a 5 day rested Skenes on the bench? But ready to start in game 1 of a championship series that we aren't playing in. I think I would have to leave this site until football season started.

How do you know it would be in the night slot on Friday June 16 and not the day slot?

I would bring him in out the pen but not start him. At least maybe you get up big with the bats. Idk tough call but Skenes not pitching in the championship would suck

Coleman was a special player with the ability to pitch in multiple games a weekend. We’ve never had another like him since - a pitcher who could both start and relieve on the same weekend. He may be the most valuable pitcher I’ve seen at LSU.

It's not that we've never had anyone else who can do that. It's that when Alan Dunn got here in 2012 he shut that shite down. Mainieri loved to overuse guys.. Bradford in 2007 and 2008, Coleman in 2009. When Dunn got here he ended that.

A good example is LSU not pitching Poche on Monday in game 7 against Houston after he started on Friday in the 2014 regional. Pre-2012 Mainieri starts Poche there every time. Dunn changed Mainieri's philosophy.

So, you’re thinking we would go with Money in the do or die game and not play a rested Skenes?

Remember, we’ve played at least three games. Floyd, Hurd and Coleman are all burned. The only way I see this happening is if Ackerman or Hurd closes the first game, and throws 50 or 60 pitches, so he is not available for the next two. Then maybe - MAYBE - you pitch backwards, with Ackerman going first. Then, if LSU gets a big lead by the fourth inning, you try not to play Skenes.
