re: If we had to go 9-3, why did we fire Les Miles

Miles would not have beaten Auburn. We would have kept running right into the teeth of their defense and gone nowhere. I think he would have lost to Troy as well because we were basically running his offense in the first half and it wasn't working. We'd basically be 8-4 right now.
But 9-3 vs 8-4? Still seems about the same. We didn't replace Miles just to get that one additional win. We did it because we didn't want to be irrelevant in December any more... Which we still are. So in that sense, yeah we spent a bunch of money to buy out Miles and we really haven't seen it pay off yet.

Move on, please - the Miles era is over

recruiting is worse than miles.
Actually, it's not.
wouldnt have lost to Troy
Perhaps not, but we would have lost to Auburn and likely Arkansas
Miles played Alabama tougher
No he didn't.

Yeah, definitely should have kept Miles! I mean, he is a great coach! Since we've fired him, everybody has tried to get him! Oh wait, nevermind!

Miles arguable took the most talented LSU team ever and lost 21-0 to bama.
Well, first of all he beat Saban earlier that year.
Second of all, he put that type of team together. Those are two things Orgeron would be insanely lucky to accomplish.

Why does everything have to be one extreme or another here?
Les needed to go.
Orgeron was an uninspiring hire, who still has to prove he’s an upgrade. This year he didn’t do that.

i'm not a miles fan at all, but you don't fire miles & hire a guy who was 10-25 at his previous stop, you just can't do that at lsu
well, it happened. and it happened over a year ago. and the result has been encouraging. it seems to many, myself included, that we have hit bottom and are on the upswing. on course, only time will tell. but it was very clear that miles (who I was a big supporter of) had gotten complacent and refused to fire his friend at OC and take the necessary steps to turn the team around. his firing was a must.
and you know damn good and well how Orgeron got the job. the FACTS are there; fisher and herman turned us down and, at the time, Orgeron was a good alternative for various reasons. and, he has so far proved to be a reasonable alternative because he is taking necessary steps to improve the team. yes, we stuttered coming out of the box last year, but recovered and have done quite well since then.
you have a choice. accept that O is our coach and pull for the team OR continue to bitch about the hire. the latter is so juvenile.

He gets a pass for this year. Next year he’d better go 10-2 or better.

he most certainly proved he was an upgrade over Miles last few years. the team started slow and had suspensions and lots of key injuries that cost him at least one game. but it appears strongly that the teams decline has been stopped and we are on the way up. sorry he couldn't take miles players and win a natty in his first year.

Nobody expected a natty or SECCG win this year. He gets a pass for 9-3, as he did a decent job.
Next year he has to improve on that. And he doesn’t get to use the schedule as an excuse to lose 3 or more.

I agree with the premise of the topic, but 2 of your 3 conjectures are wrong!
