i mean shite if JJ can improve as a runner, he can run the wild-x by himself with shep as the sweep man

I think the answer to this question is who do you think is most dangerous and that guy should be at QB.

Some dumbasses here think that's a stupid question though...
Actually I think it's a very legitimate question.

shotgun with 2 backs (shep and scott/calhoun), 1 TE, 2 WR. or have shep in the slot as a WR
This would be very dangerous IMO, and cause opposing defenses fits. I would still keep Shep in at the slot though.

just love the idea of Defenses not knowing that the Wild X is happening until the slot guys goes into motion. That my friends is a defensive nightmare....
The unknown is actually the key to the Wild X. Not knowing which weapon will get the ball is the key to the whole thing. Some people get caught up in personnel, but in reality, it's just about keeping the defense off balance. Create mismatches, and good things happen.

I still like the idea of Shep at QB spot on Wild X sometimes. The Def won't know if its a designed QB draw, the Wild X, the Option, the Bubble screen, or something totally different.

My point is that I think Shep needs to play, but I don't want it to be predictable as to what he is going to do (ie Shep at QB = Wild X like with Arky DMac at QB = Wild X)).

IF my memory is correct the 07 LSU team KNEW that DMAC was at QB and that formation gave LSU FITS! Its all about personnel.

Well in that game the personnel problem for LSU was Jacob Cutera

I thought our biggest problem in that game was Kirston Pittman jumping inside and letting DMac get to the outside around him.

Didn't most of the big runs go to the left?

we don't really have that super explosive speed guy that will make Ds worry about the sweep off the motion. shep is a great option for this with his speed.

Drayto Calhoun will be that guy.

I guess Ron Brooks has assured us that DC will be playing on Offense?

My point is that Shep most probably will be a more versatile threat. I just don't think he should be pigeon-holed into just one position.

Yes but that was more because of Jones coming in motion from that side. If Jones would've come in motion from the other side then that DE would've been more vulnerable.

Except that Tyson Jackson played extremely good assignment football the last two years. You saw very few running plays bounce out around him, unlike the long runs to the left that happened in many games the last two years.

Tyson Jackson is going to make someone an excellent DE in a 3-4 scheme in the NFL.

he ran a 4.9 and had 8.5 sacks when he was allowed to rush the passer

i'm starting to think that maybe it was scheme, and he may be able to be a SDE in a 4-3 now in the NFL

Yeah Tyson's drop-off in sacks is sort of puzzling. I figured it was scheme too - he talked about being coached to maintain his responsibilities a year or two ago in explaining the lack of sacks.

The entire DL under performed last year, along with the rest of the D. I'm really looking forward to see the defense this year with an all new (and much improved) staff.

1. The Wild Murphy

If it weren't for this play, we possibly beat Bama.

Worst play in the playbook.

We were running right down Bama's throat all game. 1st play in OT, we gain about 6 or 7 yards.

And what do we do on 2nd and 4??? Freaking Murphy in that formation and we lose about 3 yards, and that basically set up the 3rd and long INT.

Blah.
