Personally, I think the only reason Miles first put JJ in the game was to basically get it over with and probably felt that letting him get in and score a TD would create a more "bitter sweet" moment than if he would put him in a situation in which his first play would have a higher risk of failing, causing an even worse reactions from the fans.
With that said, it amazes me at the people who think JJ shouldn't be allowed to play because of questionable character, yet have no problem with Mett being on the team. 0
I also think that Miles putting JJ in as early as he did could have been a sign in which Miles might feel as if JJ (and Johns) were not as guilty as the general public considered them to be.
People are forming opinions based off a lot of assumptions.

You might change your mind.
