LSU-Auburn wasn’t an annual game until 1992. It’s been a good series, but it’s OK if it drops to every other year.

Essentially, you’re going to get 2 from the “top 8” and one from the “bottom 8.” LSU will get Ole Miss from the bottom 8, and probably Texas A&M and either Alabama or Florida.

I don’t care if we play Auburn every year.

LSU will play Alabama ($$$) A&M ($$$) and Ole Miss or State. I’d prefer State because I prefer their fan base over Ole Miss. As far as fans and respect go, I think we couldn’t ask for a better permanent group than that.

If it’s just one opponent, then we’ll likely end up with A&M.

Going back to my youth, we rarely played them...they are not a long time rival...check the history.

LSU will play our two oldest "rivals", State and OMiss, plus probably A&M.

I still think two divisions would be best, with 9 SEC games. You would play every SEC team from the other division once every 4 seasons. That's enough.

Historically, these are the SEC teams LSU has played listed by # of games from most to least

Mississippi State 115 Games 76-36-3
Ole Miss 110 Games 64-42-4
Alabama 86 Games 26-55-5
Florida 68 Games 32-33-3
Arkansas 67 Games 42-23-2
Texas A&M 60 Games 35-22-3
Kentucky 58 Games 40-17-1
Auburn 56 Games 31-24-1
Tennessee 33 Games 10-20-3
Vanderbilt 32 Games 24-7-1
Georgia 32 Games 18-13-1
South Carolina 22 Games 19-2-1
Missouri 3 Games 1-2-0

These are the teams currently non SEC that LSU has played the most games against though Tulane was in the SEC originally.

Tulane 98 Games 69-22-7
Rice 56 Games 38-13-5
Louisiana 22 Games 22-0-0
Louisiana Tech 20 Games 19-1-0

Note LSU has played Tulane more often than Auburn and Rice the same number of times.

Keep Ole Miss and Florida and then pick one from Bama or Aggie or Arkansas. Auburn probably a no go because they'll keep Bama and UGA.

Auburn ain’t buying Ala, Ga & LSU & Alabama ain’t buying Auburn, LSU & Tennessee. There’s gonna be some Ole Miss, Vandy & Miss st mixed in.

LSU not getting Bama or Florida. Bama already has Auburn and Tenn. No way they want LSU over State. Gators will have UGA, Cocky and Tenn or UK.

We lost to MIZZ TWICE?

Was one loss before they joined the league?

Auburn, Florida and A&M most fun and closest matchups every year. Can split up Ole Miss and Miss St so we play one of them every year. Then, we are guaranteed to play two of Bama, UGA, Tex and OU every year on an alternating basis. Will be some great games ahead

We're not going to play both Miss. State and Ole Miss annually. The league is divided into 8 haves and 8 have-nots. LSU is a have. Ole Miss and Miss. State are have-nots. Each have is going to 2 play 2 haves and a have-not every year. Each have-not is going to play 2 have-nots and a have.

According to what Ross Dellenger has reported, these are the haves:

LSU
Alabama
Auburn
Florida
Georgia
Oklahoma
Texas
Texas A&M

These are the have-nots:

Arkansas
Kentucky
Ole Miss
Miss. State
Missouri
South Carolina
Tennessee
Vanderbilt

We will likely play Ole Miss every year. If not, it likely will be State. But it won't be both.

Name the biggest LSU-Miss. State game where both teams were good and it affected the league race. There are no great games between these two teams, regardless of how long we've played State. If the longevity of a series was the most important factor in a series (which it is for LSU-Miss. State), then we'd play Tulane annually in the non-conference.

don't be so sure.

If this top 8 / bottom 8 talk is right, that means for instance...

Bama gets Auburn from top 8, Tennessee from bottom 8, and one more from top 8 group. Florida would get UGA from top 8, and which other top 8 team fits best? LSU.

Top 8: Bama, Aub, Florida, LSU, UGA, Texas, OU, a+m,

Bottom 8: Ole Miss, State, Vandy, USC, Tennessee, Missouri, UK, Arkansas

LSU is likely going to get Florida or Alabama, to go along with Texas A&M and Ole Miss.

I would think Alabama will probably try to make the argument that Tennessee is a top-half school and fight to keep Auburn, Tennessee and Miss. State. And being that it's Alabama, they'll probably get that. In that event, I would think LSU would get Florida.

The latest buzz is that the bottom half wants to stay at 8 games, and Alabama and Florida and possibly Georgia want to go to 9 games. Staying at 8 and going to a 1-7 model is idiotic for so many reasons. Hopefully, the top half sets the bottom half straight, writes them a check and gets the 3-6 approved.

Tennessee is not a Have Not. They will be back soon. They are much more powerful longterm to be a bottom 8.
