Not saying i disagree, but what programs would you have ahead of LSU currently?

combo of over the last 5 years + current momentum:

Alabama
Oregon
Ohio State
Stanford
Florida
Notre Dame

With arguments for TaM, Georgia, Oklahoma, and South Carolina.

To say LSU is a SHOE IN for top 5 especially after last season and the unknowns this season is a little suspect.

I don't think he understands the difference between a program and a team.

The time period was the last 10 years.

The coaches poll in that period had LSU at a rank of 6.5.

LSU has 107 wins in that period. Second only to Boise St.

In that time period LSU is 63-22 in the SEC which is the top mark.

LSU has won the west four times in that period which is the most.

LSU has won the SEC three times in that period which is as good as any SEC school.

LSU has played in 3 BCSCGs.

Anyone not seeing LSU as a top 5 college program for that ten year period is a clown and a idiot.

Easily a top 5 program. Hands down the best fans in all of football. We sell out ALL our games and give LSU the biggest home field advantage

Such a nearsighted comment that it's not even funny.

Don't doubt for a second that ND, tOSU, Texas, PennSt. Fans would all rate themselves higher than LSU fans purely b/c their support has been in spite of less- than- top 10 quality football.

LSU's fan support is so good that it is actually been harmful. One of the reasons LSU gets sent to lesser bowls is because LSU fans travel so well, the bowls know they will get a sellout even if they aren't the top bowl. This was the first year there was real pushback on getting screwed on bowl selection, and it kind of shocked the bowl organizers.

Make no mistake, LSU fans are pretty legendary as being the most insane, out of control, fanatical fanbase in the country. Alabama's cultishness is directed inwards, we're emote outwardly.

Overall, the LSU fan base is among the Top Ten most loyal, knowledgable, traveling, loud, crazy, AND welcoming fan base (as far as tailgating, etc.) in the country.

Do we have some fans that are belligerent, drunk, obnoxious, rude, negatiger fans?

Of course, but overall, BECAUSE they are loud and negative - THEY get the most attention.

In actuality, the vast majority of the millions of LSU fans and alumni across the globe who are just normal passionate fans who do not go out of their way to be obnoxious, are the ones we should put on a pedestal, NOT the minority of the rude obnoxious ones.

Why does everyone assume that AAAAAAALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL LSU fans are like the vocal minority of rude ones?

And noooooooo, I don't want to hear the old tired
"well MOST of them are like that !!!" because it's not true...

Metry, do you think we have a reputation as. "welcoming fan base" across the SEC?
Others are in a better position to opine on this, but that's not my impression...

Are you kidding?

quote:

Bama
Without a doubt the king of college football at the moment. Consistent top 3 classes and the best coach.

quote:

Oregon
Based on what? The fact that they've never won a national title or have a great record in the most overrated conference in college football? The only thing that Oregon has a claim to is their state of the art facilities.
LSU's easily a better program: Better coach, better recruiting, better recruiting grounds, more titles etc.

quote:

Ohio State
You could maybe make an argument here, but them recently getting smoked by SEC teams in national titles give us a big edge.

quote:

Stanford
Another decent team in a terrible conference. Think about the ND game. They took it down to the wire with a team that got absolutely raped by Bama. Another team with no BCS championships. Again big edge to us.

quote:

Florida
I can see this one because of their fertile recruiting grounds and ability to recruit the east coast. I would say we're neck and neck with them, could go either way.

quote:

Notre Dame
Good lord man. Fan base size doesn't determine football program. History wise they absolutely destroy us but going forward they don't have the quality of recruits that we have.

quote:

TaM
Based on their one time they went 10-2 and had a Heisman winner? So f*cking obviously a better program.

quote:

Georgia
How the hell would they have an argument? They have a good year every 3-5 years, but never ever ever win it when it counts. Hell they can't even keep their kids at home.

quote:

Oklahoma
You're a moron if you think this.

quote:

South Carolina
See Oklahoma.

Ranking the state of CFB programs:

1. Alabama
2a. LSU (slight edge over UF due to better recruits and success with current coach)
2b. UF
4. Ohio State
5. Oregon/Notre Dame

Your'e right. We're mediocre at best. Death Valley is a very easy place to win, due to the lack of noise. We never consistently recruit the best players in the nation. Too bad we couldn't get Tre White, Frank Herron, La'el Collins, Anthony Johnson, Jarvis Landry, Jalen Collins, Spencer Ware, Tyrann Mathieu, Barkevious Mingo, Sam Montgomery, Eric Reid, Craig Loston, Michael Brockers and Patrick Peterson. Even sadder how terrible Mile's is only winning 80% of his games and the joke of his 2 SEC championships and that itty bitty BCS national title. I just wish we could be in the state that produces more NFL players per capita than any other state. I just wish Miles could be more successful in the SEC. I mean 73% winning percentage in the SEC is only the best we've ever had.

But yeah your'e right it's near sighted to say that we're a top 5 program. I mean we have so much going against us.

Moral of this story: Kill yourself.
