This should be great for recruiting...
Even though it won't happen that doomsday article does its job and I'm sure other coaches would just "want the prospects to be informed of all possibilities in order to make the best decision for themselves and their families."
Not to mention the 1.6 billion dollars short on state revenue would only increase without the economic stimulus around BR that is football season. Lots of places rely on the huge cash flow that football season brings to keep them afloat during slow time periods
I wonder if the sec would even mind, league was at 12 teams a couple years ago, it would still be at 13 without us. And the rest of the conference would be in for some huge talent upgrades when 10+ 5 stars and 40+ 4 stars are looking to transfer without having to sit out a year lol. Not to mention 1 less loss for a lot of them

The university is in real trouble if half of these artitles are true. Schools can not keep their doors open without state funding. Period
Yes it is thanks to Bobby Jindal. LSU took severe budget cuts 6-7 years ago. LSU facility services basically can only cut grass or so it seems. LSU trimmed a lot then and now there's not much left to cut.
Will LSU close? No, but LSU is struggling just to maintain what they have meanwhile many schools are growing and building. I'm afraid to see what the cuts would do.
Bottom line...the governor has a 16% approval rating. I'm shocked it's that high. His fiscal policies and planning have created this mess while all of Louisiana suffers.

not going to happen. scare tactics being used to get more money.
there's alot of dead weight that needs to be cut at LSU

They should cut sports first.

You don't keep up with world class universities with massive budget cuts. These cuts will set LSU back a generation.

What could you possibly be talking about?

Alexander says the state funding cuts will cause an 82% budget reduction, but later says we are only 13% funded by the state. If the state is only funding 13%, how could any cut in state appropriations cause an 82% budget reduction?

It's on a bare-bones budget as it is, and you say there's "dead weight"? Where?

You've got to be an absolute moron to ask such a question.
Maybe if Louisianans would support the university as passionately as they support athletics, you wouldn't even have to ask.

We'd be on par with DeVry. What scares me is there must be some remote chance this is possible unless King Alexander has the worst PR skills at LSU since Bob Brodhead.
Why would you even hint at shutting the school down --even for one semester?

the dozens of useless admin positions for one. i could name more if i felt like putting any more effort into this issue....but i don't. Honestly i don't think its an issue....just hyperbole being used to scare people. seems to be working

Doubtful and c'mon man. Do we by magic become bamer fans?
