In case it's missed in other thread...

Comparing the top 5 on the list...

Quality of opponents (opponent win %):
Daniels .657
Sanders .588
Gabriel .558
Penix .414
Williams .294

Quality of opponents (# of ranked opponents played):
Daniels 3
Sanders 3
Gabriel 1
Penix 0
Williams 0

Quality of opponents (opponents points allowed per game):
Sanders 24.35
Gabriel 24.4
Daniels 25.1
Penix 27.52
Williams 32.0

Quality of opponents (opponents yards allowed per game):
Gabriel 362.5
Sanders 364.2
Daniels 372.1
Penix 381.4
Williams 418.1

Clearly Penix and Williams are up there because they have played much weaker opponents.

I’m saying we aren’t losing to both. We are favored at home vs A&M

yep. Everyone needs a heisman moment to win the heisman and JD5’s would be against Alabama if he’s going to win the award. Can’t lose anymore games if he’s going to be considered.

I remember LF7 was the runaway heisman favorite and then we got our arse kicked so bad in game 8 against Bama in 2015 that Derrick Henry overtook him in the race after that night and never looked back.

Sad truth, right there.

He's definitely playing at a Heisman level, but if we go 9-3 that's almost certainly not happening.

They will do anything to not give it to a small market guy.
All of the bullshite surrounding the trophy really pisses me off.
It should be given to the best player. That’s it.

Unfortunately, Daniels is going to have to overcome LSU's (already) two losses. To do so he is going to have to continue to put up huge numbers AND almost assuredly beat Alabama and A&M (and everyone else). That would give him a spotlight game vs. UGA.

There is precedent for guys like Daniels winning the Heisman while playing on teams not really in the championship hunt: Lamar Jackson, RG3, Johnny Manziel come to mind. But he will likely have to put up some huge numbers to have a shot.

Currently he is on pace to throw for ~4,000 yards, 38 TDs, Rush for 800 yards, and 8 TDs in 12 games. If he can get a 13th game and hit the 4,000 yard (passing), 1,000 yard (rushing) while combining for over 50 TDs he is going to have a VERY strong argument.

Thank you for this logical reply to an idiotic post. Even if JD5 continues to compile monster stats, LSU will have to win the remaining regular season games (and perhaps beat UGA in SECCG) to see him attend the Heisman award night in NYC.
