Put him in the position where he can contribute immediately.

He needs to put himself in position to compete. He's got to drop the baby fat and get bigger, and stronger.

And he needs coaching. He's not close to being a finished product.

He's probably going to red shirt and if he's done what he needs to go by his second year he may be ready to compete in the SEC

Should he sit a year behind Damien Lewis/Ingram/Hines while Deculus gets turnstiled all season?

How about Deculus continues to improve into the All-SEC tackle I expect him to be?

You're a typical moron who thinks that if a player doesn't show out his first year on campus he never will. I'll point out Kendal Beckwith who looked like hot garbage his second year, Debo Jones, Duke Riley, Daryl Williams and Mike Brockers, none of whom could do squat their second year. Maybe Deculus is developing like them and, due to lack of players, was thrust into action a little before his time.

Why not put Stingley at OT? He's quick. Kardell Thomas would get destroyed at tackle. He can't stop a high school DE in space. He's a guard. He doesn't work in space. Tackles need to have long wing spans so they can win the hand fights. Without that the ends spin right around them. Kardell will probably be a great guard, but no chance he's a tackle. If we're ever forced to play him there we will be running the ball almost every play.

That sounds like a Les Miles move. I only see that happening in an emergency situation.

What “tape” are you watching? Highlight reel like those dumbasses on the recruiting board comment on?

He won’t sniff tackle or guard next season.
Go watch what Roy from UHIGH did to him. It wasn’t close. He has a LOT of work to do...

No he struggled at guard as well with lateral movement. He needs to drop like 40idh lbs before he is taken seriously at playing college football.
More reality for the Rant cheerleader pumpers.

He's also coming from Class A public high school football where he had no legit competition.

How fast can he learn Cregg's blocking schemes?

If he comes in 40 pounds overweight, he'll struggle all year to get on the field...….

I do not know how throwing the shot put translates to football performance

Zero translation. Throwing takes a lot of technique and practice. High schools always put some big football player out there to chunk the javelin or shotput and they do OK, because they are strong, but they barely even practice. Some kid 100 pounds lighter who does it year round would smoke them.

did you read what he said about beckworh being trash his sophomore season? I just pointed out there are some serious hurt feelings to make that kind of comment.

Not a chance. Nothing about him says tackle. He screams gaurd. He’s too short, too heavy, not long enough arms plus he’s never played tackle to my knowledge in high school. The kid is a road grader type OG that plays with a big mean streak similar to Trai Turner.

6-2 is good enough if hes quick enough. If hes quick enough to keep a edte rusher put the box and to beat someone to the outside on a hook block then his height shouldn't matter.

It's not height, it's arm length.

Perhaps, but you can only "develop" so much foot speed and agility.

I do. He gets credit because he further along than the other kids as a sophomore / junior and dominated. Then other kids caught up and while still an above average guard with potential, he’s no where near the 5 star that he was early. He looked like a 3 star half the time athis past year but the services wouldn’t drop him that far or they would look bad.

Kid is powerful and is a guard all the way, but I understand how someone can see him playing OT. He stays with a defender all the way til the whistle blows frustrating the hell out of a defender and making them wanna fight, and he doesn't back down. LOL To me it's just gonna be hard to keep this kid off the field from Day 1 because he's the type that wants to play right away, and he can despite his lack of experience. He's just a violent player that beats the crap out of a DT or DE, whomever he's blocking at the time. I haven't seen his type in awhile, and when he moves on to the pros I will be excited to see him block a Aaron Donald because his type won't back down and will go at it with Donald all the way.
