I think you are underestimating the political pressure being applied here. Ogre put his foot in his mouth with one offhand comment and he's still paying for it today. I wonder if he's talked to Drew about how to handle it.

NO
Bring in a bright young mind from successful but smaller venue that knows x's and o's.

If it is Mason, O may be given his walking papers. It will be interesting to see the contracts for these hires. How much guaranteed money will speak to the administrations confidence in O.

Would be a terrible hire, O would be gone within 2 years

I'd take Mason as a DC in a heartbeat.

Can’t compare Vandy D stats to LSU bc of personnel. One could make the argument Vandy overachieved given the competition

He was good at Stanford against pro style offenses. That’s all I have to judge him on. Basically same resume as Pelini. So I say no. Get a guy who has been successful against the offenses of today.

He was the first coordinator to ever be able to successful shut down Oregon who was the best Spread offense in the country at the time.

You make Freeman tell you no before considering Mason.

But supposedly players love him.
Players loved Mike Archer.

Like Pelini. He last was DC at Stanford and the PAC wasn’t really a “spread offense” conference.
What has he done to warrant the being the new DC?
