Do you have to have wifi to get sling I know nothing bout those things before u attack me
You just need a good internet connection and a device that runs the sling app. I don't know anyone who has a good internet connection who doesn't have wifi. You don't necessarily need it, but most of the devices you would use are built for wifi connections.
I use an Amazon Fire Stick (about 40 bucks) to steam everything in my living room now, and it works great with my average internet connection. I had buffering issues only when I streamed it on my XBOX One, so it must have been the XBOX One rather than Sling. Games do run a minute or so behind cable/satellite, but this only matters if you are also following a game thread instead of actually watching the game.
Anyway, for 25 bucks a month you get most of the cable channels you probably watch regularly, all of the espn channels, SECN, Pac-10, ACC, etc. You can stream from other devices too (cell phone, ipad, etc) wherever you have an internet connection or data access. You can only stream one device at a time, but for 35 bucks you can get more channels and stream multiple devices simultaneously.
Additional perks are that you pay monthly with no contract. You can cancel anytime or add and remove additional content anytime (ala cart). They always have some sort of deal going for new customers too, usually a free month or a free streaming device (i.e. a Roku stick).
It isn't for everyone, but it is a really nice option. I was skeptical at first, but I honestly don't miss my Dish at all, and I am saving 70+ bucks a month.

correct. i have the flex pack w/ Dish and thought i could get the SEC network through the espn watch app, because i subscribe to espn. but i had to add the pack that has SEC network to get the game. extra 10 bucks and you can cancel. we have terribly slow internet and no option for faster service.

Oh shite....is the SEC channel not part of the DIRECTV line up or what?

on some packages, i have the Ultimate or what ever package, and have both sec networks, and several other sports channels. the less expensive packages do not include SEC and several other "extra channels"

Grandma is the shite. HD streams with no lag.. meanwhile watch ESPN barely works

I think the sec network is part of your basic package. I may be wrong, but have you turned to channel 611?

VipBox streams all sports free. Probably will be shitty quality with tons of ads. I used it a few times while in Europe, it got the job done.

My parents have DirectTv. Can I use their password to watch ESPN on the WatchESPN ap or is it blacked out in Louisiana?
