If Drost is on the base in the same situation as beloso we lose the game.

This has nothing to do about dogging Drost. Drost is just more likely to be off the bag to take a lead.

Beloso was not going to steal and was no threat to do so.

That being said I think Drost will be a major contributor in a couple years. A Dugas type of player I’d say. Surprise everyone and hits really well.

My 6 yr old nephew would have done the same thing as Beloso.

You think the pitcher balked because Beloso was standing on the base?

If Morgan was on first (Arnold was on 3B), Thompson would have been batting with a runner on 3B and 2 outs after the first pick off

Uhhhhhh Beloso didn’t do anything to cause the balk. You do know that right?

First off, I don’t think CPM would have let Drost hit in that situation unless he had some good swings earlier in the game. We needed to get the run home and Drost is a huge K liability. I think he probably PH’s Beloso there anyway.

Oregon was trying to get Doughty to commit on the squeeze. I believe LSU was going to try it and Oregon sniffed it out…eventually made a mistake. The throw to first was a decoy. In the end it wouldn’t have mattered B/C Thompson got a base hit. And if you remember PM subbed Safford after the balk.

Pitcher balked trying once again to interrupt the safety squeeze. Funny thing is Paul said he had just called it off because he knew they were on to it.

IF he had hit we prob lose the game. Very unheralded at bat for Cade after looking so bad all night . Very big at bat against tough lefty.

His location relative to the bag had NOTHING to do with the balk.

DUMB

To assume that changing the runner changes the outcome for the worse is...Dumb.

Now LSU might have lost, but they might have gone on to score 3 more runs.

EVERYTHING CHANGES (statistical change / Variable Change)

Propensity Based Theoretical Model Probability....Haven't you seen the movie "21"

OR

Jurassic Park and Jeff Goldblum explaining "chaos Theory"

Quality take here

How about “if those Hrs were doubles we don’t score as many runs”

Or

“If the frosh pitchers don’t give up some bad pitches the game isn’t even close”

Right...a top 100 prospect and state player of the year will surprise everyone by doing well. Solid insight.

After the pitcher threw 10 soft toss to 1st base even with the runner standing on the bag it wouldn’t have mattered who was the runner.. in a tight situation like that no runner would have ventured far off the 1st base bag with a runner on 3rd base at that crucial time of the game…biggest mistake was the Oregon pitcher missing the signal to throw to the plate resulting in a balk..advantage LSU…

Are you saying Drost would have gotten picked off by those soft tosses? Make no mistake those tosses weren't to pick anybody off even if fricking Ricky Henderson was on first.
