Would this change anyone’s perception on the team’s prospects for the season?

We still have to play Miami, at Auburn, v. Nick Fitzgerald and the bells, v. Georgia, at Florida, and v. Bama.
This schedule would be tough for any starting quarterback......

If Danny Etling was returning, I would not be watching. I’ll never forget the bama game, shitty qb play lost that game

I think our win loss record would still be about the same. I have to see it to believe it concerning our offense changing and opening up.

A lot more certainty on how we would play on offense. Etling is a smart guy not a big arm but can throw a good long ball with a little time. Game manager and honestly is as Matt Mauck as they get.

Etling only lost one game at home last year against Troy. And he lost 2 games at home a year before that Bama and Florida.

Since we have a competitive advantage at home, we would probably still lose at Auburn.

If none of the current QBs could beat him out, I'd know we're in trouble. Danny was a good guy with brass balls, but he is just not an SEC caliber QB.

He gave his heart to this program. That’s what I’ll always remember, but the above sums it up.

I would feel better about the opener. The U's bread and butter is takeaways. Etling is very good at protecting the ball whereas Brennan is high risk high reward and more likely to throw a couple of picks. And Narcisse would be seeing the field for the first time with no Guice to take the pressure off the QB position.

He’s not in maucks league. Go back and watch video from the 2003 season. Mauck was a beast.

If etling returned my head would explode and I probably wouldn’t watch a game. It was obvious he couldn’t do shite against any defense with a pulse and it would’ve been a terrible year. I thank god he’s gone

I can already tell that will be Os fall back excuse for underperformance

Even tho last year we were told “just wait until next year when we have a REAL QB!”

The stats just don’t support this. Unless half the SEC doesn’t have an SEC caliber QB

The topic of Danny Etling shows how ignorant and grumpy our fanbase is. He was a serviceable QB. Was not a huge playmaker but definitely made some plays when he had to

Fans wanted more out of the QB because we honestly needed more than a serviceable QB to win a championship. Don’t put that on the QB, put it on other parts of the team.

To me Danny showed us that we are further away from being a championship team than we thought. You can’t just expect to have an all world QB every year.

What is an SEC caliber QB? Can you please explain and give some names of the QB's you think are "SEC caliber"?
