Regardless of what happens the rest of the season.

Btw, don't hate that I went to USC. I am from Louisiana.

I enjoy this team, and they are the best in the country this year.

He might already be, regardless of the outcome.

If he wins the Heisman for sure. Still have more than just the bama game to go down at the best. Rohan holds that title for now.

Is Joe beating Bama and winning the Heisman better than Billy Cannon beating Ole Miss and winning the Heisman?

Comparable. Especially if Burrow beats Bama on a game winning drive, and puts up big numbers.

Back then, football was nothing like it is today. Cannon was basically the best kid in PE class. Joe is the best qb and possibly player in LSU history. There’s no comparison.

I think he will need to win the SEC at least to make it a consensus. He will have most of the records by then. Of course, win the playoff and it will elevate him further even outside of LSU.

Man, Ro was awesome, but he's not the best LSU QB ever.

(1)Hodson
(2)Jones
(3)Russell
(4)Tittle
(5)Ro

Burrow's name is omitted ONLY because he's not done yet.

Might have been harder to win it back then with the lack of video and media available in the south. Billy Cannon was on a different level than anyone playing the game at the time and probably one of the few that would still be good today.

Best season absolutly, best in history goes to jones or Tittle. He wins heisman and Natty. He may become the best alltime. Still games to play out that title.

Already is. His professional career will make it a no-brain answer for people outside of LSU fandom. I love Hodson, Ro, and heard non-stop stories in my youth about Jones who played high school with my best friends dad. What is going on right now is ridiculous. Transfer/offense change/ historical statistical success, this is movie script stuff.

Burrow is a very very good QB, and this offense is one he grew up playing. It's been a great combination of Burrow, Brady and SE. And statistically speaking, regardless of the bama outcome, Burrow will go down as the best QB in LZSU history in a season. To say he is overall the best, IDK, there have been some very good QB's to play at LSU. Who can honestly say what Y.A. Tittle would do in this offense today. He could throw the ball with as much accuracy and zip as Burrow, hell, Y.A' is a NFL HOF QB. Bert Jones, who can honestly say if he'd have stats as good or better than Burrow. Hodson was the best drop back passer I have ever seen at LSU. Kid had nerves of steel in the pocket. He didn't have as strong a arm as Burrow, Tittle or Jones, but he had great accuracy and iron nuts. And then there is Rohan, Jamarcus, Flynn, I mean those were some very good QB's. Stats don't always tell the entire story of just how good a QB is. If they did, Jason White would be an NFL HOFer. I will say this though, beating bama and winning the SEC will go a long way in how Burrow's career is viewed by people. Winning the NC will go even further. And I'm sure in some eyes he will be considered the best QB in LSU history. Lets see how he does in championship games first though. Because there's been others before that played in those games and they did very well.

Burrow is the best QB in LSU history, may break an NCAA record for completion % and will go down as one of the best Tigers ever.

However, I'd never say there was no comparison. Billy Cannon led LSU to it first and only undefeated national championship season. In the Sugar Bowl when they beat Clemson 7-0, he threw for the only TD and kicked the extra point. Seriously. He also punted for LSU. He became a Heisman-winning RB while being a defensive standout and sometimes playing WR, punter, fg kicker, the punter returner, kickoff returner and even QB.

The national sportswriters named him not only the RB of the decade of the 50s, but also cornerback of the decade. When he won the Heisman, he dominated the vote and had more votes than the next 8 players who got votes combined. Also, he had one of the greatest and most viewed plays in college football history with his Halloween run against Ole Miss. Billy was a legend (just like Joe will be if he beats Bama and wins the Heisman).
