Thats not a valid argument back.

I ask you if you realized he hadn't had a raise since 2007. That is a fact. He hadn't had a raise.

Do you think a coach that goes 13-0, wins the SEC Championship game, and plays for a National Championship deserves a raise?

Do you get a raise? I'm sure you get something annually and I am positive you don't have the amount of success that Les Miles does coaching at whatever the hell it is that you do.

LSU under Les Miles is one of the most overrated teams in the nation. Rivals did an article a while back. Les disappoints yearly, finishing lower than where he starts in the preseason.

based on how i have seen most ranters here ( posi and nega) judge texas, georgia, usc, oregon and oklahoma------- i agree

i find it funny how the posi tigers have a different standard for miles

I agree.

Les Miles told SiriusXM College Sports Nation this week his name was not floated for the now-filled Arkansas job so he could get a raise or an extension from LSU

Don't take me for being a fool and think you are being truthful, Miles.

Exactly. It's like some of these posters have never worked in the real world.

If I sign a contract and have five years left on it, guess what, I'm stuck with that contract...

UNLESS I have leverage to renegotiate the terms due to NEW developments. If we are to believe the AD and Les, nothing happened. Well I'm calling bullshite on that.

You've got to be kidding me. So lemme get this straight, your argument is that LSU gave Les Miles a raise, out of the goodness of our hearts, when he had 5 years left on his contract?

Again, if you believe that, you're one gullible motherfricker.

It is stupid to compare sports to your work. Sports are slightly different and contract renegotiations happen ALL THE TIME.

Some people will believe whatever they are told. At least somebody gets it.

I love Les as our coach. I'm glad he's here. I have no illusions about him being some great man who doesn't care about money. This is a modern college football coach we're talking about. I think it is good that we moved to keep him.

the fuq? Who gives a shite? A job is a job and money is money and a contact is a contract in the real world.

Damn some of you are dumb. You act like contract renegotations never happen in sports. They happen all the frickin time, so the "5 years remaining on his contract" are 100% irrelevant.

Well I'm sorry but you are ignorant if you think sports don't work differently than your work.

You have 0 clue how the language in the contracts is even written to be saying that its BS to give him a raise in the middle of the contract.

Really? By pointing out that...

is objectively false?

year - preseason AP/final AP
2005 - 5/6
2006 - 8/3
2007 - 2/1
2008 - 8/UR thanks RP
2009 - 11/17 thanks RP
2010 - 21/8
2011 - 4/2
2012 - 3/8?

Half the time he finishes better. Of the times he didn't 2 were top 10 finishes, 2 we can thank RP for leaving us with a freshman Lee and a sophomore JJ.

"The fuq" back to you. Now you are saying you are glad we gave him a raise but every other post you have made has said what bullshite it is that he got a raise with 5 years left on his deal.

Yeah they happen when:

A. A contract is about to expire. We all know this wasn't the case.
B. the person has the option to leave and uses it as leverage.

If not A then obviously B.

I've never heard of a sports contract being renegotiated FIVE years out for no fricking reason.

Listen to yourself.

Perfect example of what is wrong with this board. I can think Miles is a good coach and a dumbass at times. Those aren't mutually exclusive unless you worship at his altar.

Fallacious argument. Those aren't the only possibilities.

PurpleandGold86 is the reason PR works. Somebody in Les' office was smart and told him to go do an interview where you deny that you used Arkansas as leverage to get a raise. Then praise LSU and talk about how wonderful it is. Maybe even mention your family and how great of an environment BR is.

Works on about 66% of people 95% of the time.

The first part is correct. However, it doesn't always mean the coach/player is using anything as leverage. Sometimes the school/team decides they want to give a coach/player a raise when they have the option to leave. Does not mean the coach/player used it as leverage.

You kept saying Miles threatened to leave. Where/when did he threaten to leave??

Maybe LSU gave him the raise overnight like they did because Arkansas offered him, but where was this "threatening to leave" BS published?
