Being a fan has nothing to do with talking about the good or bad performance of your team and/or coach. Period.
I wouldnt talk about the negatives in front of a bunch of Gator fans but there is nothing wrong with voicing your displeasure.
I dont have to like the President to make me an American.

should we applaud them for not earning their salaries?
no, but at this point Miles is going to be the head coach at LSU next year, and we should let him attempt to do his job. He will either succeed, fail and be fired, or move on.

I started this thread so we could all have a chance to prove their loyalty to LSU and not just a person. If you have loyalty to the school YOU will support the school at all cost. If you don't think all of this negative BS is affecting a 18 year old trying to make a life decision with his family then you obviously are just as stupid as the people you are calling out!

i'd like to see the team win 2 or 3 more games next year, have a lot more discipline, and not look as horrible in defeat as they did this year..if not, than yes i want them all fired
Skillet. thats all I want to. LSU is known in college football for good sound defenses. Every coach we hire brings up "our d" as one that is known throughout the country. Miles fricked up bigtime by not going out and hiring the best dc before or right after the mnc.

The point is we need to quit trying to bring this program down and start supporting it again.
So, kjanchild, you're happy w/ where the program is. Drink the coolaid and everything is wonderful.
Supporting this program is wanting to see it excell. Critcizing mistakes and weaknesses IS being an LSU fan.

Don't you think recruiting can be affected by all of this negativity? Fans can definitely help bring a program down!
You seem to have trouble establishing the various components of a "cause & effect" relationship.

Who isn't supporting LSU?
Were LSU fans not supporting LSU when they voiced their displeasure with the way that Gerry Dinardo was losing control of the team, and blowing it? NO, and good thing we didn't accept that as the way they were because we wouldn't have shot higher and got Nick Saban, and you wouldn't have two national championships right now, now would you?
You MUST expect better if you are ever going to succeed in anything. That's just the way things work in this world kjanchild.

Did I say I was happy a-hole! I said I support the program that's all!

I'll say this much...
As of right now, a real LSU fan realizes that the ship is off course. Hell, to some, the ship may be sinking. But, the ship can make it home right now. The ship is NOT in the condition that Curley Hallman had it in. This thing can be righted, and if Coach Miles can do the things necessary to do so, we can make it back in 2010. However, next year is a make or break year. If Les Miles' team does not show siginificant improvement in the areas of discipline, leadership, and flat out fundamentals of the game, Les Miles needs to be dismissed. I don't think it's a matter of "if LSU goes 8-4 next year, Miles needs to go." I think if LSU goes 7-5 or better and this team plays its guts out, makes plays, and shows SIGNIFICANT improvement next year, then I sincerely believe that we'll be headed in the right direction towards competing for an SEC Championship in 2010. Please though people, it takes time and patience to rebuild a program.

We sure do have alot of coolaid drinkers in this town. How many times do I have to hear at lunch or whenever "I remember winning 6 games was considered a success" "You younger Lsu fans are spoiled!" Its kinda like louisiana voters still having the huey P. Long mentality of Redistributing Wealth.

The 18-year old's should recognize that LSU has inferior coaching all by themselves. If we want the 18-year old's to pick LSU, then maybe we should bring in some competent coaches ... not tell true, loyal fans in a chatroom to not bitch about shitty coaches.

Totally agree the ship is off course but it hasn't sunk...yet! With the talent we could still be in the thick of things next year. The best in the west will probably be Bama. We should have beaten Bama real bad so...we are not that far away!

where many fans depart with reality is understanding how incessant bashing, growing delusion and unrealistic expectations affect the ability to attract top coaches.
Critiquing football games/players/coaches is all part of being a fan and I've certainly done my share.

Let me come to your job and Boo your arse and tell you you suck and should be replaced. How would you feel?

without the "so called fans" we would still have Smoke Laval & John Brady. If the fans accept mediocrity, then the athletic department will also.

Saban fell into our lap and wasn't really a star on the national scene at the time...I don't think he was even on our list until Sexton called

every program has a tough fan base. Just look at the Univ of Texas. The fanbase wanted to hang Mack Brown by the nutts a few years back. Difference between Mack and les is that Mack did something about it. Ohio State has a tough fan base, as do Mich, Florida, and Bama. We are not some Lacoste sweater wearing fan base that defines success as 6-7 wins. The resources we have here now as compared to the 80's is night and day and we haven't capitalized on that it at all this year. that said we are the biggest underacheving team in college football this year and the fan base should just kick the rocks down the road. bullshite.

Nope. LSU fans are the best fans in the world when we're winning, and the worst in the world when losing.
