Given up? No. Lost his ability to be effective? Without question.

The press conference clarified some things for me. He’s looked “off” for awhile now. If it’s a chronic pain issue, it makes sense now.

And yet still finished 3rd in SEC history in winning percentage behind Skip and basically even with Ray Tanner. I guess it depends on your definition of winning
what is our SEC record the past 5 years? Just wondering. I’m too lazy to look it up.

I’ve never heard even his most vocal critics say he didn’t care about winning. Not sure of the point of this post

If it’s so awful then he wouldn’t still be 3rd in history would he since he’s only coached 15 years. 5 years is a 3rd of that. The last five years include an SEC regular season and tournament championship and a CWS runner up. There’s only been two CWS champions since we played for one. Who knows, we may be the third this year. Does that help you out?

I wish that were the case. It was said repeatedly that he didn’t care about winning and had given up. It was said that he was just happy to collect a paycheck and the players had given up because the coach did. There were many many posts about it so I’m not sure why you didn’t see any.

You can like the guy, appreciate what he did for LSU, and still understand it was time to move on.

You certainly can. I’ve never said otherwise.
