The point Drizz, is that they aren't an SEC caliber defense. They play in a league that isn't exactly known for defense.

If LSU had played against an SEC caliber defense in an opening game, I seriously doubt LSU would have looked quite as good.

It has nothing to do whether Oregon is considered a good team, or not. Unless you want to make the claim that Oregon has a good defense,

I bet you won't though.
Granted on all points.

In fact Oregon is worse on defense than a good defense they had last year.

But listen you yourself... we didn't open up with an SEC Alabama defense. We have time to work it out - as best we can.

We beat the "#3" team in the nation with our strengths and a "better" offense.

Yup, it was great to see the tigers playing without all the penalties!!

Definitely streamlined and simplified. Only downside, it's very predictable. I think LSU has the personnel to make it work though.

Lots of LSU fans tried to pin the woes of the offense on Miles, so I guess to them it may be a breakthrough.

the offense was very average. not sure why everyone seems to think LSU threw for 300 yds and ran for 250. LSU put up 40 due in large part to the turnovers.

Not unlike us, they had a year to plan against us. Others won't have that luxury.

This is what you've deciphered?

Everyone knows the offense is the weak link and turnovers made the difference between a nail biter and a convincing win.

Wow.

Average is a big improvement from the last few seasons.

Turnovers that the defense created. OU did not give LSU any "gift" turnovers.

I felt like the offense was more coherent and organized for sure.

Whether that's Stud/Krag or Lee or what, I dunno.

I haven't rewatched yet, but I didn't notice 75 different formations to run 50 different plays tonight.

I think this would be obvious for most observers. Unfortunately, it's not.

LSU offense looked more fluid. That's what I AM taking way from this game offensively.

Maybe so, but look at JJ's cotton bowl performance.

He still was not very good despite a month to prepare. He had a Randal Cunningham type game...made a few big plays...but the rest of the game was below average.

And again...what was AandM....21st ranked? The offense tonight but up 1 less point vs. a team ranked 1 ahead of them...not 15 behind them (or whatever LSU was ranked at the time).

If we go 14-0 know this...with Jefferson...we would not have gone 15-0! I am very happy with this football team. We just man handled a top 3 opponent.

I clearly remember Lee running the option a couple of times as well.

I agree about Crowton I have been complaining about him for years now.I have always liked Miles but he sometimes gives players and coaches to many chances ,but hey at least he is loyal to the coaches and players unlike our past head coach. What a win! Lets kick the crap out state next.Been a LSU fan since birth I had no choice .Sorry about my rambling but I'm so happy.

Sorry but the game plan was remarkably similar to last year.

We're going to win with defense, special teams and conservative offense

the major problem was JJ's execution, or lack thereof. once he got his confidence back up later in the yr and started making some plays, we looked better.

not totally absolving Gary though, he had some playcalling issues.

anyway, looking forward to scoring 35 ppg or so this yr.

Easy there, tiger. We'll have to do a little better offensively to get that against an SEC schedule.
