I think a big reason fans like Coach O is he is one of them

What I mean is because he is from Larose they look at him someone they can relate to. He is a good ole boy in a good sense, a guy from Louisiana who made it and now leading their team. Hell he was shoveling shrimp in Grand Isle when found out about his 1st college job. Reading about the coaches show callers inviting him over for dinner, talking to him in Cajun French. Hell one call said we finally have a coach with no funny accent. Coach O is the perfect man to reunite LSU and Louisiana.

He is living the Louisiana dream. One day make it big enough to be head coach of LSU football. He's the type of guy you can see going drinking on a Friday night with and getting crazy.

He's the first LSU head coach from Louisiana since Stovall.

That is the greatest meme in TD history

poor stovall. 2nd in the heisman running as a rb at lsu. finished second in the sec in 1982 as head coach. that crazy arse year. he did win coach of the year. up, down, up, down. that was stovall.
beat #4 UF, #8 alabama and #7 fsu, but lost to frickin missstate and tulane by a field goal. lost the orange bowl to #3 nebraska by one point. ended up 11th that year i think. was my first year of pop warner.
just think, we were almost the first team to have a heisman trophy winning alumni as head coach, but stovall came in second to terry baker from oregonst, which was just bullshite.

His resume is more important than his birth certificate. I hope he does great over the next 8 games.
At the end of the day, I want the BEST coach available, not the coach with the best Louisiana connections.

That 1982 season was so frustrating. I don't know how the Tigers could beat Alabama and blow out FSU, and take an 11-1, #2 ranked Nebraska team down to the wire, and lose to TULANE!!!!
That Tulane loss let me know that Stovall's coaching days at LSU were seriously numbered.

It is just so refreshing to have a coach tell it like it is, name a starter and not make us read between the lines. Be upfront about his intentions. Of course Miles cared deeply, but it just comes across differently with Coach O in how candid and excited he is to get to work on change.

I'm with you, I really hope somehow we can win out, as I think that is the only way we keep him as the head guy past this season.
I'm rooting for him all the way, extremely excited about the game this weekend, just to see a new product on the field.
Met him at rouses in mandeville one day, extremely nice, down to earth, local dude.

When you imagine a picture of the head football coach at LSU, then see this dude and hear him talk. It just fits perfectly.
