Canada's offense successfully executed multiple shifts, ran an uptempo offense then effortlessly slowed it down, and actually fooled cameramen and spectators with misdirection--all enough to keep a defense honest.

All this after fifteen practices in the spring is fantastic.

frick all you idiot catastrophe-syndrome bitchers and moaners who crawl out of the woodwork after the spring game.

This literally happens with most teams every spring. High school, college, and pro. Defense always has the advantage over the more complicated offense after only 15 practices.

agree

I watched some of the Bama SG - don't try to sugar coat what we saw from our O and Danny

Bama game - Danny folded under pressure D
Gator game - Danny folded under pressure D
Tiger SG - Danny folded under Tiger pressure D

and to add these idiots have obviously never played organized sports, esp football at a high level. this was a fricking PRACTICE GAME! the object of a practice game is to PRACTICE. playing it in front of fans and on TV is merely to get the players excited after all the hard work they've put in over the past few weeks.

this offense will be fine and much improved over the last few years. it is just going to take time and and OL improvement.

Finally, a sane post. But you're an arsenal fan, so still.

Nah, you're cool.

I'd really like to see a mobile quarterback with the ability to throw at the helm of this offense. Due to the youth behind Etling it won't be this season. Hopefully this regime will find offensive snaps for the younger QB's to aid in their development.

So what's the problem Sith our defense being advanced enough to give our offense some issues?

Offenses progress slower and put in special packages each game. We didn't do that here.

Block here, drop here, read here....those things can be easily cleaned up but they all stop plays dead. Different on D when a mistake can be masked by someone else making a tackle..

That being said, it's obvious the eyes are on the qb position and the best will rise up and be the starter day one. I sure don't want to be changing starters mid-season, that would mean we suck.

"I saw all I needed to see"

You did??

Look, there was lots of motion, shifts, and fast pace action and all of that is fine, but that was an overall poor offensive passing display I saw last night. It' was a scrimmage and in the grand scheme of things, they don't normally mean crap. But I didn't see anything in that scrimmage or the performance by DE that would lead me to post I saw all I needed to see.

If I recall correctly, Danny actually performed much better in last yrs. SG than this one from the part I was able to see.

I know it's a new system and I know it's just a scrimmage, but I was honestly expecting more from the O. Apparently, so were coach O and Canada.

Agree with you on the Bama game but that also included the Oline's inability to give him a clean pocket. But the Florida game was turnovers and our inability to stop the run game once Beckwith got hurt. In fact, Etling made some good plays, including a clutch 4th down pass to Chark, to get us to the goaline.

For the most part, I can agree with your post except for the name calling. While there were definitely some doom and gloomers, what many saw, even though it was a spring practice game, was that the OL still needs much work and Etling's passing is still crappy. The defenses were impressive along with the multiple set offense, which was very positive after only basically two weeks worth of practices. Geaux Tigers.

Turnovers and the fact that Gilmore got pushed back 2-3 yards off the ball on every snap like he was a newborn baby allowing Florida to just run the ball up the middle at will. It's the worst game I've seen from D-Lineman at LSU and it's not even close.

There were a couple moments of "oh, that guy had the ball?"

I like.

Not as much of a fan of a billion jet sweeps and end arounds, but it looked pretty good overall.

I did too. They looked great in the first half and then Nick took the training wheels off and let the defense blitz in the 2nd half. Neither QB could move the ball in the 2nd half.

Okay, you know what? I'm going to try and take this to heart from now on. These boards are not for the faint of heart and my OP is just the culture around here, which I do not mind at all. However, without being a pollyanna, I am going to try and make a conscious effort to improve here. I mean, cut down on name-calling, not improve at name-calling.

Okay, this is not replying directly to you, but I'm amazed I have to explain this to people: when I said "I've seen all I need to see," I mean "FOR A SPRING GAME AND THE FACT THAT KICKOFF IS STILL FOUR MONTHS AWAY."

shite, I wasn't saying the offense was a finished product. But they are executing Canada's shift and tempo very well. The other things can be cleaned up.

I can agree with ya. Hell, I've gotten frustrated and called some idiots "idiots" and worse. Some actually deserve it.

It's going to be like other up-tempo offenses. When it works it'll be a thing of beauty. When they're stalled they'll gas our defense that'll have little time to recover.
