Good thing is when Canada sees the film he should like how they looked when spreading things out. Hopefully he will implement some more 3-4 wide shotgun sets.

Canada hates seeing a player have success. We've been fooled by this gimmick offense.

Coaches just seldom do this. The odds are that the defense adjusted to stop what was working, so Canada adjusted to something he thought would work. These are things that fans don't see, so we don't understand.

Teams run spread offenses with quick passes successfully every week, all over the country. These offenses are ran despite other teams adjusting to stop it. If enough dbs are brought up to take away one on one situations, then you run the ball. Pretty simple stuff and it should not be over thought. Obviously his game plan has not been successful over the first month of the season.

Both looked decent in shotgun as long as the line held up. No clue why they won't play out of the gun more often.

This Offensive Line leaves an OC with very few options.

I agree.. Etling has limits but he's tough and the shotgun gives him an extra beat or two. Get Davis and Sullivan in there and loosen up.

You protect a weak offensive line by setting up in shotgun and throwing quick passes. Many average offensive lines and young quarterbacks succeed with similar systems. The worst possible system for our o-line is being deployed.

Exactly. Was very pleased to see the change when we went to the shotgun. We have to be versatile that way in order to win the SEC. We have to get quick passes and screens off on those teams that apply a lot of pressure. We need to give the tall WR's more jump balls in intermediate routes and in the redzone. I know they've probably dropped a few balls in practice, but we've also has people who were all world in practice and disappeared in games.

The more they play the better they will get. I like what Dillon brings in the slot as well. Don't need he and RG on the field together as much as they have been. I know it worked with two shorter WR's with OBJ and Landry, but those were dudes of a different breed.

got to go to a dink and dunk quick passing offense. the long developing 30+ yard low % passes have to stop.

Well spreading things out will force defenders out of the box area. When Canada goes bunch D.C's are blitzing like crazy. Remove some guys out of that area and it becomes a little easier to pass protect

All the misinformation about 3 and 4 rushers getting to Etling. People need to watch the video. O-line is weak, but they are made to look worse by others. Canada's deep ball fascination is exposing them, along with running backs not picking up blitzes. Syracuse sent 5 to 6 on nearly every play, and brought more on occasion. Offense needs to become a quick strike/ short pass system and the running backs need to learn how to block. If Etling won't release the ball quick enough, then give Brennan his chance.

Etling looked good when he wasn’t being run down the second the ball was snapped. That deep ball was

I loved the quick check downs Brennan did when he was being rushed. We got big gains from it.

Our O-Line is bad and the glaring weakness for the this team.

Maybe I'm wrong, but half those Etling passes looked like they were designed for him to roll out. Unfortunately if that's the case, half the receivers were impossible to hit with him throwing across his body. He was rolling out before the DL even hit the OL. So it was either designed or he has happy feet and complete fear.

Also, it looked like Brennan took a little off his throws to make them a little easier to catch. Quite a few didn't have his zip. And that route on the interception was pitiful.
