OL was the issue. Could not block especially pass protect up the middle. Williams ate us up. The OL needs to improve to another level when going up against that kind of DL. Have more to do about it than coaches wetting some bed or whatever.

The biggest deficit LSU had on offense against the Bama defense was the lack of speed at RB to spread the Bama defense wide....

Secondly,

Our WR’s lacked the strength to pull away from pulling & slapping DB’s and safeties....See the Clemson game: Bama pass interfered all night, but it didn’t matter....

Together, these two weaknesses prevented LSU from going vertical and exploit the Bama secondary....the Bama defense could crowd anywhere LSU tried to place the ball....

And of course, the lack of QB protection was also a huge problem....

I think LSU’s returning players will be bigger and stronger this year and those weaknesses will be our strengths...including the two freak RB’s David-Price and Emery....

LSU will be formidable....

So coaches aren’t responsible when the OL gets devoured by Alabama’s DL line now either?

A coach can only do so much....if a lineman is not strong enough or quick enough to drive a defender off the Qb or Rb.....it just won’t work....sure, technique and scheme (deception) can help....see Matt Canada....that was his whole approach....

LSU didn’t have the time (experience) or the right personnel to fully utilize Matt Canada’s approach...

This isn’t magic...you can’t scheme a weak OL to beat Bama....their coaches will make adjustments...

LSU did not have the whole package (experience and strength) to compete against a well coached Bama defense...

Clemson had success against Bama because they had upper class men on both sides of the ball....the WRs had height and strength to fend off DBs and their OL could double team Q Williams and buy Clemson’s QB just enough time to locate the open guy.....

Another year in the weight room, more experience, and another year of improvement with technical skills in blocking will narrow the gap between LSU and Bama.....

I think LSU is just about there....but that’s just my opinion....we will see soon...

You are trying to do something that is impossible - convincing a hater of something about LSU. He will come up with all kinds of shite to make you feel miserable about the team.

Now bring up Jimbo Fisher and his 3-5 ACC record two years ago and watch him come up with excuse after excuse and cry and whine about it not being the coach that caused it.

How did Ole Miss, A&M and Auburn compete against Bama? How did multitudes of other SEC and non-SEC teams manage to at least appear competent on offense against Alabama? Surely LSU has not had worse offensive lines than all of those teams for three years running, no?

While I thought the game plan could have been better, in reality, all bets are off when you’re getting shite pushed on the LOS. There is no gameplan that works when you’re getting dominated up front. Ask New England

I can’t answer any of that. All I know is LSUs OL looks pretty damn good every game and then when the Bama game comes around they have been bullied. I do think the bama defense turns it up a notch vs LSU every year as well.

Rob,you make some good points. My point was simply the offensive gameplan vs Alabama. However, LSU put up 36 on a very good Georgia defense. I concede Alabama was just better than us. I just think with all of our talent we should have been able to have competed with them on offense. There was really no excuse in not scoring. We looked totally outclassed on offense and unprepared.

Really not sure why this is getting down-voted so much. I think most anyone would agree I'm a very big "posi-tiger." But every now and then you have to call a spade a spade.

So a 10 win season last year when smart money had the over/under at 7 and you are questioning if the coaches are good or not? Only one team beat Bama last year...This year expectations are higher we are ranked in the top 10 and have an outside chance of getting into the playoff even with a Bama loss. You're the type who would complain that we didn't beat bama by enough points or bama gave us the game. Get a grip.

ah, yes, the "we were predicted to go 6-6/7-5 last year and look how it turned out!" pro-O argument.

The only reason some sites had LSU over/under at 7 last year is because of the coaching staff. O had shown in his first full year the ability to keep a good DC and run off an OC who had an impressive resume and still had the best showing against Bama statistically in a while.

LSU had much better talent than going 6-6/7-5 last year and you know it.

No LSU fan with a clue expected 6-6/7-5 last year. No one.

And you're the type to pull stuff out of your arse, I guess? I hope we both get to try this theory of yours after a Bama win. It's been a while. I suspect none of us will complain if we win 2-0 in T-town this year. But, you can claim what you want....

Ever since the NC game Bama's game plan has been simple.
RUSH RUSH RUSH, let's see if they can pass. Until we move them around and make them respect the pass, whether with screens, slants, or ?? They will pin their ears back and come full speed.

I did... I bet money on the over and won slick. Are you that slow that you did't even recognize that the talent alone can win you 8-9 games (see Miles Era). With a half way decent qb and a coach who doesn't run, run, pass that would easily get us over 7. Not saying we beat bama...but I do expect at least 10 wins this year. Furthermore, with the receivers and lineman returning the play book and concepts open up more, it's why veteran teams are tougher to beat.
