re: I know we want multiple WR sets and all that, but O is right. We really aren't there yet.

We can have the QB fully protected and yet, 2-7 Arkansas was in our back field all night.
Burrow has 0.5 seconds to find a Target and throw the ball.
Was our passing attach horrible, 15-21 is successful in my opinion.
Maybe we should have aired it out more.
The problem with the offense against Arkansas was we did not pass enough

I'm pretty sure they decided to grind it out after the 14 point lead, which is a bit bothersome to me. I get it, Arkansas struggled on offense most of the game and they didn't want to risk turnovers but the offense should have kept going with what was working.

The only element I can't find an excuse for is the constant play action/delay read. If the defense can successfully pressure with 3 or 4, freezing the LBs is of minimal value, it just gives you 1 less second.

You know you can scheme around that by spreading the defense out and throwing short quick passes.

We only have one player who has been able to contribute YAC, and that's Jefferson. I'm not sure a short passing game would succeed with the lack of speed we have on offense
We only need to get 3.5 yards a play to keep moving the ball doen field.

I can't find an excuse for not getting the call in the hands of playmakers like Dillon, Chase, and Marshall more often. If you can't do it with your vertical passing game then you do it via long handofffs like wr screens, bubble screens, jet sweeps, reverses, etc. there's just no creativity.

You're assuming every pass is complete.

Look at our receiver talent. Jefferson was a lucky find who was a legacy. The only other two that are big-league are the freshmen. Same picture with the offensive line. Deculus, Saahdiq, Cush, and Hines are great, but they are having to play before their time because Les left the cupboard bare.
Our offense is built out of pedestrian talent and talent exposed before it's ready
I don't know how people can't see this. To most it's all about Steve being shitty at his job. They can't see that the offensive line is the worst ever at LSU.

Miles recruited so poorly that we lack talent of an average sec team
This is Ed’s 3rd season as HC, and he was recruiting coordinator before that.
He’s had a hand in recruiting almost every player on this team.
So anybtalent issues at this point are just as much his as they are Les’s

You don't know what the recruiting coordinator does do you?

I don't see a lot of creativity, to be honest. but yeah...he needs more speed at the skill positions and a beefed up line
You can work around the line, but you still need guys that can stretch the field.

No. But I am assuming many go for more than 3.5 yards.

Yep. It’s all Les Miles’s fault. Fired two years ago, but left us with no talent whatever. The ramifications of which will be felt for at least 10 years. You people.

Apparently you are telling us that the recruiting coordinator doesn’t recruit. So please tell us what he does.
Are saying that Ed did not have a hand in recruiting almost every player on this roster?

Jefferson is his best guy and he's not a burner. I've been critical of the offensive line but I didn't realize that the only upper classman was Brumfield. I still think Deculus and Charles should be quicker out of their stance and I'm disappointed in their footwork. I've said all along that Deculus would be better suited to be a guard. Charles too actually. People are saying that they're getting better but I don't see it. I don't think that they're athletic enough. I'm probably wrong. Next year they may be world beaters but they'll need to improve leaps and bounds.

WR's weren't getting any separation with bump coverage. It wasn't there.
Watch the game again.

I've been watching since the early 90s when I first moved to BR. It's just my opinion and it's very subjective but I don't remember a worse line. The recruiting coordinator probably doesn't get a whole lot of say in who gets recruited. I'm sure that responsibility lies further up the food chain. Maybe somebody can enlighten us with what a recruiting coordinator does.

Bama dominated Clapp and Weathersbee as well. Miles left the program with 11 offensive lineman on scholarship. The SEC average is 16.5. A couple left right after that. We still do not really have SEC caliber Offensive tackles. And our one senior got bat badly by Bama and Arky. Whatever. W are having a very good season against a very tough schedule. If we play well we will be 11 and 2. With very good prospects for 2019.
We are not in any way poised to,beat Bama in 2019 however.

I’m a huge proponent of the Kline is our biggest weakness however I’d like to dispel a myth that’s out there right now about not being able to do anything because our o line is so bad
Do you think WASU’s o line is better than ours? What about West Virginia? Nope and nope. They do however have a scheme that both utilized multiple receiver sets AND enables their o line to be able to gain an advantage over the defense and block them.
