My favorite Hawthorne-isms

"There's the snap.... aaaaand..... well.... what's going on here?"

"Well would you look at that!"

I would Jim, but I'm listening to the game on the radio you tard.

Nothing against his personality, I'm sure he's a nice guy. But I can tell you he's a punchline among other broadcasters and media, and there's a reason why.

Don't feel bad the next time you see him and he doesn't remember your name. He'll probably call you Jack or something

I jumped the gun, Jim's SON is a dick. He had a bastard son with a stripper & has pretty much disowned him.

I have known Jim for 25 years. Really a good guy.

When BB played in Nashville one year, we went to a studio and laid down some tracks. Jim is a great country singer. I think he had notions of a singing career but do not know what happened.

Gets a little mixed up from time to time but who does not...

LSU through and through...

Hawthorne = homer
Love LSU = Love Hawthorne

no one is prefect and I will surely like to judge some of you "young know-it-alls" at the end of your career.
He is a very nice gy.

I'm good with this. Like I said, I'm not hating on him. He's colorful and can get pretty excited. I have no problem with that, but sometimes he's lacking when calling the play.

I'm an old fart so I grew up listening to John Ferguson & Walter Hill call the Tiger games in the '60s.

John may have been the best PBP guy I've listened to. And over the years I've seen and heard a bunch.

Tough act to follow.

Was neighbors with Jim and his family back in the mid 80's. His ex wife taught at my high school. Cool family.

Jim worked a baseball game several years ago during the same day that he buried his brother Gary.

Jim will be missed.

Does anyone have an idea how many more years Hawthorne will be the LSU play by play guy?

Seems like he should be nearing retirement if he opts for that.

His daughter told me that Jim was thinking about hanging it up about five years ago. He will be 71 years old this month iirc the month.

I think he enjoys his job like many PbP guys do. Once he gives his position up , he will not be able to get it back so I'm guessing he wants to continue it until the very end.
