Only problem with this is that LSU's offensive talent is a shadow of what has been the last 10 years.

I'm right there with you. The truth is that the 07 team shouldn't have lost two game and the '06 should have won it all too. The 06 team was loaded. The loss in the Swamp could have been avenged but for the prior loss to Auburn. The 06 Auburn game confirmed that Miles was an idiot. We should have curb stomped that team on the plains.
However, long before that there were people in the athletic department and football ops who expressed concern at Miles lack of attention to detail and his style.
If Frank Wilson hadn't convinced Miles to recruit the Honey Badger, 2011 would never have happened and Miles would have been gone before this year.
Elmer Fudd should never have been selected. Thank goodness he's gone.

Steve simply used the talent that we all knew we had. He called the plays that fit the talent and skill of the team. That is something cam didn't have sense enough to do.

every body knows that our offense was a huge problem and miles refused to fix it. whether we "should" have been in the playoffs is a matter of opinion. the playoffs are designed to put 4 teams from 4 different conferences in them. until we win the west, and that most certainly means beating bama, we will not make the playoffs.
there are reasons, our offense sucked. we used poor game plans and our guys were not coached properly. also, the in game coaching was atrocious as we couldn't even get the play calls in on time, even after a time out. none of that matters now; we have a much improved OC and our HC will not interfere and screw the in game decisions up. that will give us a better chance to make the playoffs but it doesn't guarantee it by a long shot. bama has the best front 7 ever assembled in college football and we have to find a way to move the ball against them.
