So, is this week's rotation gonna see white & mills with Thompson and Loston in the back? I'd say Thompson deserves this week's start. Put Eugene back at nickel? What say youins?

So, you see a deficiency in our defense and you HOPE John Chavis sees it ?
He's the best Defensive Coordinator in the game and you're an internet superhero...I'm pretty sure he got it.

I think Thompson will get the bulk of the playing time. He made some good plays this weekend and Eugene was a little lost at times. Doesnt Eugene just look more comfortable closer to the line of scrimmage than being left out in coverage? He seems to be a true strong safety. If he would put on a little more weight, I think he could be excellent as an early down run stopping safety. He def has the aggressiveness for it.

I only wish Chief knew as much about football as you do.

Just saying, it definitely comes off as you being excited to potentially see our defense fail. Being concerned is one thing, you seem eager to see them fall flat on their faces.
Ryno just wants to right about something, once, for a change of pace.

Four losses right? That's what you think? Please tell me, what in the frick has any of those four teams showed you so far throughout this season that proves they will beat LSU? Georgia this week. Have you been watching the games? Do you know who the one team in college football that lost more elite defensive talent than LSU is? The University of Georgia. They have given up 89 pts in 3 games. They were just in a tie with North Texas midway through the 3rd qtr this past weekend. LSU will score on them at will. LSU will be favored in this game and should be. Did you see Jeremy Hill play this weekend? Did you see how well the O-line played in the 1st half. We RAN OVER Auburn, right down there frickin throat. We will do the same thing this weekend. Georgia is not stout enough in the middle. Texas A&M has allowed 114 pts in 4 games in which 3 of the opponents were SMU, Sam Houston and Rice. Will they stop LSU's run game. Will there defense ever be able to get off the field when we ram it down there throat as well? Johnny fricking Football cant do much when he's sitting on the sideline can he? They arent as good as they were last yr and LSU is better and we play them at home. If we shut down Evans in that game, we should be able to do exactly what Bama did. We have a considerably better secondary than Bama does so this is definitely tangible. We will more than likely let Tre White play man on him all night and roll a safety over the top. We have enough speed to handle JFF and his scrambling abilities, exactly like we did last year. Ole Miss will be a loss? Are you fricking kidding me? Why will they be a loss? The only reason we may struggle with this game is that it's on the road the week after Florida. Guess who they play the week before us...Texas A&M. That's a wash. Both teams will be worn out. Unless Ole Miss all of a sudden finds a ton of hidden gems on their bench between now and then, we will have substantially more talent than them at nearly all 22 spots on the field. Finally, Bama. There isnt really much that needs to be said about this game. We have been evenly matched for approx the last 5-6 yrs now. It's not as if they've looked overly-impressive this year either. Regardless, this is the biggest college football game of the year and has been for 3 yrs now. Both teams will get up for this game and whoever gets the lucky bounces will win. That's how it's always been. To just say that LSU wil go 8-4 this season is such pussy chickenshit talk. There was no reason to say that before the season started and now that the season is 4 wks in, you, as an LSU fan should be even more optimistic. But no, we get the bitching and moaning about a 4 loss season. Yes, Ive seen the missed tackles and the blown assignments. Ive also seen every other team on our schedule have the same struggles. We are working out the kinks. This is the golden years of LSU football. We are a national title contender every single year. Only about 5-6 programs in the nation can say that right now. We could be USC fans. We could be Texas fans. No, we are LSU fans and we have a team we should be damn proud of. Quit fricking bitching and quit with the negativity you spout from your fricking mouth constantly on this site. It's gives everyone on here the shits, including myself.

both of those plays were against one-high safety sets
Looked like a cover two on one and a high safety on one (or a blown cover 2).
Both were perfect throws, but all we can do now is play the man (because of inexperience)so the kids have no idea where the ball is.
Pushing a WR once at the line in this league doesnt work, the route has to be disrupted BEFORE it starts.
It looks like the kids know the scheme but its a bunch of 18 and 19 year olds out there.

What does having a lead have to do with it? You want to give the other team a shot at coming back on you? No he misplayed the ball and thats the end of it, i dont understand wtf you mean. I'm glad your arse isn't on the team. The conditions had nothing to do with him not being deep enough. You get back before the play even starts!

Both balls were perfectly thrown. Yes, Eugene was a step late and turned around on the last one. The coverage was good the offense was better. Every team has good players with well devised schemes.

The safety play has been pretty atrocious. Coates ran right past the coverage on both of his long receptions.
The run defense is even more alarming, though. We continue to gashed up the middle and at the edges.

You think it has been poor play so far, just wait until this Saturday the Bulldogs will hang a 50 spot on LSU's defense with not much problem.

We want Thompson We want Thompson , oh sorry is my Texas bias showing

So we only gave up two big plays and you guys are bitching?
How many did auburn give up?
Either they lowered their standards or LSU is a fricking beast.
We didn't even give up a touchdown in the air. Refer to the WVU game. I'll take Chavis is a beast for $200 Alex

"Cover two?" I was in the stadium and haven't watched the replay but I would bet $100 that both of those plays were against one-high safety sets, and the other safety was in the box to try to defend that belly read Auburn was running all night.
You're probably right based on how far from the sidelines that took place. But the safety should have easily covered that Eugene simply did not get enough depth on the second one. Then he looked lost with the ball in the air.

the DBs have been pretty meh the entire season FWIW. Giving up big passes and soft against the run. None of them besides Loston want to hit.

eugene doesn't seem like a great fit at safety. better roaming around closer to the LOS

The whole defense is suspect but the jury is still out IMO. It's insane to expect the 2011 level of defense from this squad. And thanks to our new found offense, we really don't have to. When/if the offense struggles, we will see what this defense is made of, my biggest concern is they're much slower in the front seven. We won't be able to chase down Johnny football like last year or pressure the QB fast enough to limit the number of deep balls. If these issues are addressed, the secondary will have much less to worry about.

I'm not sure where all the Loston hype comes from but he is the worse tackling safety we have had at LSU in a long time. Go put a clip together of all his tackles against Auburn, it won't take long.
