Scholarships are renewed on a year to year basis. LSU won't think twice about pulling a player's scholarship after 1 year for any number of reasons, including if a new recruit is taking his spot. We don't sign a player and give him 4 years of scholarship money, stipends, etc.

That would do absolutely nothing besides giving another advantage to the "haves". A Sun Belt team or anything like that can't pay, small P5 teams can't pay. Just means the big teams can buy whoever they want. It would be like it is in European soccer where the rich teams buy whoever they want.

LSU is guilty to a certain point because we have marketed ourselves as a trade school for the NFL. There is no cohesive program building going on. Just a bunch of independent contractors.

Sounds like your 14 now. QB, like many of us remember when you played with pain, didn't fake injuries. Just played the game. If you signed with LSU you stayed with LSU. If you signed with BAMA you stayed with BAMA. Didn't matter. Commitment mean something once upon a time.

That's an idea, but I don't think that's a good idea. That process would continue to push college football in the direction of "pay to play." And like an earlier poster said, it would add to the disparity between the "halves" and the "have nots". Kinda like that old Billie Holiday song says, "Thems that got shall get, thems that not shall lose....."
