I lived in Alabama for ten years and I never had a bad experience while living there. I lived in Montgomery and Alex City. The people that I met were polite. The Alabama and Auburn fans that I met never mentioned a thing about LSU. Besides Auburn, the only school Bama fans talked about was Tennessee. The Auburn people hate Georgia and talk about them when not talking about Bama. I never heard any hatred thrown LSU's way. The only thing that I ever heard about LSU was how they love to tailgate and how good their food is. LSU is not on anybody's mind. Do you people realize how bad you make LSU look with your stupid posts about Bama? Their fans laugh at us and say that we want another school to hate us so bad. A friend of mine who is a big Bama fan claims that for six years straight Tiger Droppings always had a post saying something about Bama. They tell me that if we want a rival so bad then we need to resume playing Tulane.

Same for Spurrier. How in the world could you hate that guy when he was at Florida? Game-changing offensive scheme, exciting football, and there wasn't much coachspeak from him - he was a quote machine in interviews.

Did I like losing to Spurrier so much? Of course not. But I respect the guy, and I certainly don't hate him for it.

He was just better than us, and we needed to look in the mirror.

I can certainly see this being true for Auburn. I think the Bama thing has to do with which age group you’re talking to. Older people might hate Tennessee a lot more but for younger ones it’s probably more so LSU. Tennessee used to be dominant. LSU took over in the 2000s. Bama fans definitely hate LSU. They might not think of LSU a lot in those areas because there’s less LSU fans around there to remind them. I would think down around Mobile, the Bama LSU rivalry is hot.

It doesn’t get much bigger than LSU-Bama in the central part of the Deep South/Gulf Coast. There’s a reason it always breaks records for tv views. It’s just huge. When it’s a top 5 matchup or even top 15. People have to watch. It’s too good. Too much talent on both sides. It’s like an all star game. Two great fan bases with passionate fans. Nothing like it. Sorry Georgia Auburn Tennessee and Florida. Nothing beats a prime time LSU-Bama game. With maybe the exception of the iron bowl. I’ll give them that.

I don’t hate the state of Alabama or the University of Alabama. I don’t really even hate alums of the University of Alabama. But I do hate redneck sidewalk Bama fans with no ties to the university.
