Us win.
Seriously I believe Mingione really wanted this one. After all we ended their season last year. Plus it would be a confidence booster for his club to beat the defending champ.

Yeah, I thought this game would actually mean more to Kentucky than us. I assume they really wanted to win this one.

They were trying to steal one from us. We pitched our ace against their bottom bullpen. It was working for them until Jones showed up to the party!!

they scored 0 runs.
But I do think they thought they could steal one. they didn’t start their back up batters though.

They didn't throw their #1 or #2 starter on short rest like LSU did (which is what LSU would do if they were in UK's position). So there was a pitching advantage favoring LSU. But that alone doesn't = an 11-0 win. Their lineup, which was their top lineup, couldn't hit Holman. And LSU did most of their damage (9 runs) off of UK's normal bullpen.
While LSU had a more urgent mindset, it's not like outside of the starting pitcher Kentucky ran out a bunch of back of the bullpen guys and backups with few at bats.

That game was much closer than the scoreboard suggests. Them staying within 2 runs while Holman's pitch count got up to 100 had me stressing. Holman pitched a phenomenal game.

i’d argue it was close for 4 total innings
1-0 that’s close
2-0 after 2 and 3- that’s not close
2-0 4-6 that’s close
7-8 not close
they also didn’t have a hit most of the game
