re: I felt like last night's game vs UCA was kind of a let down game like in football.

You think the 9th inning was fine!!!

Yeah. It's not like we were using a struggling pitcher to try to let him work through things.

Edit: This is a compliment to the team to the staff. My God you Ranters are hard to please.

Edit: Thank you for the up votes. Can't believe the down votes for a compliment to staff and team.

It's just a dumb, low-baseball IQ take. Skip spent years trying to educate people about how different baseball is from football. You can't analyze a baseball game like a football game. And there are 56 of them in the regular season. Talking about baseball teams "being flat" and "looking ahead" is dumb. That is football bullshite.

So in short UCA had some scrappy players and LSU won 10 to 4

Even when we play bad, someone still steps up.

With previous coaching staff it was more about not how the the team was going to blow a lead but when.

Jay Johnson is a good coach. Quite possibly he’s already a great coach.
I believe he will surpass Mainieri at some point and maybe even be in the same conversation as Skip.

But right now, he hasn’t won anything. He wishes he’s had the success Paul Mainieri has had so far.

Show some respect for the previous staff.

First game I’ve been to in 7 years, my kid got a ball he’s proudly displaying and we won big. No letdown here

2017 they went to the finals.

The issue was recruiting and injury management of the pitching staff. It culminated in less than desirable results. As far as coaching, they NEVER fielded as poorly as LSU did last season. They were competitive in a tough SEC. Many games came down to the inability of closing out the opponent.

It was time for Paul to retire but to say they were “poorly coach” is just not true. The team wasn’t talented enough for the SEC.
