but I think he will hurt TCU's and Oklahoma's more.

hell, fisher hurt us in tallahasee signing our RB and DL target last year so we may not see that much of a change.

but I also contend that sumlin did a good job recruiting, esp on offense. so things are not going to be a cakewalk for the aggies. think about it, tejas is now back in the game, esp in Houston. with LSU, okalahoma and tcu heavily in the state they aren't setting as good as they thought they would be.

Maybe, but he couldn’t recruit Aranda.

I doubt it will be noticeable. Teams still can only sign 25. Aggies weren't recruiting bad with Sumlin.

For defensive recruits, all we have to say is he badly wanted our DC but couldn’t get him. So which DC do you think would be best to play for?

oh, he'll beat us on some top guys just like he did at FSU. the reality in recruiting for LSU is that we still need the gulf coast from texas to florida and include Georgia and Tennessee. there were years we signed none or only one from texas but made up for it in Georgia. Georgia is tough right now and Richt is making it tougher in florida.

recruiting is one competitive business.

they're worse than our program about letting the people with $ having too much too say in areas where their expertise doesn't translate

Texas, Oklahoma, LSU, TCU and other big names from Bama to USC to tOSU all recruit Texas hard since there are so many 4 and 5 star players. Yeah, Jimbo will compete, but we are going to be tough on him, too, in his back yard. One thing that O can do is recruit well.

Fisher won't be playing Duke, Wake Forest and Our Lady of Perpetual Misery anymore.
Fisher is going to be dependent on his DC at aTm. Offense was not a problem under Sumlin. Defense and discipline were Sumlin's issues. Jimbo is no disciplinarian and, even with all of the talent FSU had, the Noles were highly erratic on D under Jimbo.

Funny you should say that at this time:

quote:

A de-commitment from Texas A&M could be in the works, and LSU would likely be the leader should that happen. Gunnell committed to Texas A&M when Kevin Sumlin was the head coach; while he’s spoken with new coach Jimbo Fisher, he said the recent string of Texas A&M offers to dual-threat quarterbacks has given him pause.

admitting that it’s highly unlikely that Orgeron would pull off such a stunt — said it’s not the only way he knows he’s the top priority for LSU’s 2019 quarterback recruiting.

“I text with him every other day, probably,” Gunnell said. “He’s texting my parents like every morning. He’s a great guy.”

From the recruiting board:
LSU coach Ed Orgeron makes unique promise to 2019 4-star QB recruit

the ACC does have some formidable teams tho. but when fisher won his championships Clemson, Miami and VaTech were down. he was recruiting top notch tho once meyer left florida and before richt arrived at Miami.

no question his recruiting dynamics will be much different at a&m. I didn't any of his coaches that had relationships at texas high schools so there will be a learning curve. of course he has 10 fricking years.

Fisher really didn't get many out of LA while at FSU.
Just like he didn't have to leave Fla, he doesn't have to leave Texas.

Texas and A&M just need to keep those top players home. The players in Texas leaving have hurt those two programs more than any coaches that have recycled. Herman did a pretty decent job this recruiting season. UT Austin has always recruited the homegrown kids first.

OU might be hurt more because Stoops was more of a name than Riley.

TCU has always flown under the radar and found gems even out of LA - more than any other Texas school.

Hmm, I am not sure he is a better recruiter than Sumlin.

I think jimbo fricked himself alot in recruiting in the way he left FSU. He is not about the kids it's all about that $.

They really do find some talented kids that are barely numbers casualties for the bigger programs.

Lots of guys on their roster that would be the 26th/27th player in other teams recruiting classes.

It works for them. Patterson has an eye for underrated talent.

Herman will hurt us worse. Yes, Fisher just got there, but look no further than players like Cook and Sterns.

Fisher knows Louisiana a lot better than Herman.

He'll poach a kid or two each year, but that's it.

neither am I. sumlin inherited a hell of a roster on offense and he kept it up fairly well. the guy could recruit top qb's better than anyone I've seen. his recruiting on defense is what let him down. fisher is also an offensive guy. really, from what it seems (admittedly don't know much) so far his asst hires don't have extensive experience in recruiting texas; I doubt Elko does either. it takes time to cultivate the high school coaches and younger players. they'll get the traditional aggie guys and I expect him to attack Louisiana hard. 2019, while a great year for Louisiana talent, is going to be a bloody battlefield.
