Well it don't really matter that people are pissy.. Coach O will most likely be the coach if he wins the next 2. If not, it will be Jimbo. I would personally want Herman, but hey not everyone gets what they want..

Which is the primary criteria you have to judge how he would run the program.
Interim coach with players and coaching staff already established is not nearly as indicative of how he would do with the keys from day one.
How many other coaches have been elevated directly to the ranks of HC of a top 5 program, with no coordinator experience and failure at HC elsewhere?
I like O, but taking off the interim tag and giving him the reigns would be based purely on emotion, in my humble opinion.

It was the cool thing to support him for a while, then people noticed a lot of people thought it was the cool thing, so then they changed the cool thing to be against Coach O.

I don't think LSU will pay $2.5 million to a coordinator. I also don't think it's a slam dunk that Orgeron can hold on to Aranda. How much do you think Texas could pay Aranda if his former college roommate Tom Herman gets the Texas gig?

It has been said already and heard it reported that Aranda wants to be a head coach.
Not sure how good he will be but he wants it and will take a head coaching job likely in the next 2 years. I bet Ohio state fans said the same about Herman.
Hell LSU could pay frank Wilson more than his head coaching gig but that didn't keep him did it?

Aranda isn't leaving here for Texas. He didn't come to LSU to coach premier athletes to leave for a dumpster fire of a program.
The friendship thing is taken way to seriously around here. If Aranda will leave for Texas then Kiffin will leave for LSU.
I don't believe either will happen.
