re: I don't get how people can't see this LSU team is very, very good.

Negative and realistic are two very different things.

if the reports are true, the receivers dropped 8 passes in scrimmage. also, the travails of the oline have been well documented. definitely cause for concern. burrow might be the goat but what difference does it make if he's running for his life and can't complete a pass?

I didn't read but your first example. How do you know if the ol will be better or not better.
Charles started most of last year as a fresh. He should take a major stride forward and become a really good LT. Brumfield left guard. Left side solid as fk. Right side has magee starting, the guy who filled in for weathersby all that time he was out, and the guy who played lights out against Auburn. Losing Ingram hurts, but Lewis is said to be the best lineman on the team and definitely NFL prospects. It comes down to cush. If he is as good or better than clapp, the line will most definitely be improved. Are any of those guys going to even make an NFL team?

Chark and Gage started last year for a reason
And what was that reason? Were either Biletnikoff award candidates like Giles? Were either good enough to start as true freshmen like Chase or Marshall? Were either good enough to start as a true sophomore like Jefferson? The other WR's on the team are not bad, these guys are just that much better.

Yeah, how can an LSU fan be optimistic about the LSU football team. What a dope.

Could we be better at OL and WR? Sure it's possible. But it's not proven
Unlike Chase and Marshall - Ingram and Charles did not start on the line as TRUE FRESHMEN because they were the best. The started on the Oline out of necessity. There is a lot more depth and with Lewis being added to the fold it will probably be at least as good as last season and I think it will be better if Cushenberry is serviceable.

What did saban call it, catastrophy syndrome? Yep, you got it.

They sure are. Nothing in there has been proven accurate yet, since no games have been played. Until then it is called positive or negative. Understand?

You said you wouldn’t predict a season record while fall camp was going on. With less than a week before the game, what do you see the Tigers finishing at?

LSU was a 9 win team last year.

No way this team doesn't win ten games. And the sky is the limit.
We traded BYU for Miami and Tennessee for Georgia. That's all you really need to know

I have a feeling our D is going to be fast, deep and nasty. One of our best defenses in years, hopefully.
I expect Burrows to be a little better than Etling, but I am also expecting our OLine to struggle. Let's hope we effectively utilize a short passing game and mix things up enough so our O can move the ball.
This year's team will be better than last year's team at -
Special Teams - specifically the Kicking game
QB
DLine
LB
And weaker at -
RB
Probably the OLine for a while
And I think the Secondary could be a push, and WR may be as well. Chark was really good last year.
So, top to bottom, we should have a better team this year than last year, overall.... but that schedule is atrocious. 8 or 9 wins might be our ceiling.

Different schedule ...
Different players ...
Different OC ....
They haven’t played a game yet ...
I applaud your optimism but your conviction is just not supported by credible evidence.

No one thinks CEH is that bell cow back. I compared his sparq scores with others and he scored better than guys like Dalvin Cook, Joe Mixon, Guice among others. No one believes he’s an NFL talent. I don’t get it because he runs a 4.46 4.1 shuttle and is tough to bring down. Maybe he lacks the vision idk. But I feel people are sleeping on him. I also believe Brossette is gonna break out. He is 220lbs with good speed. All this talk of no Rb is a mistake imo

I think this team has the potential to be awesome, it's the intangibles that separate decent from great though.
Posted on 8/28/18 at 9:21 am to TigersOfGeauxld
Extremely thin on both sides of the line. We've a piecemeal offensive line with Ingram being suspended. I think we're going to need Foster Moreau to shine as a blocker at tight end.
D-line is a mess with fresh faces and injuries.
The talent is there as always just have to put it together.
This can be a special year if Burrow has time to get the ball to the receivers.

The team needs Brossette to wake up. Or maybe David Ducre needs to step up. I don't know if Curry is that back but he'll definitely get his chance to show it.

CEH is about 5’7” and 205. I just don’t see him being able to hold up with 20-25 carries a game. Maybe under 10 a game with a few receptions. He’ll break some runs if he can stay healthy. Something he couldn’t do at Catholic.

I don't know why people on here are trying to spend so much time saying how great this team will be. Are you trying to convince others or yourselves?
In a few days we'll see. If I were confident in that like some of you say you are all I would say is wait and see.

Yeah, he won't survive the regular season if he is stuck with 20+ carries a game.

A lot of our opponents were down last year, but I see your point.
We do look improved on defense for sure, but our schedule is a lot harder.
