I think the futility of the offense is making the defensive performance look better than it actually was last night. The D was so focused on Bama running that any play action, misdirection worked perfectly all night. That's why Bama kept throwing......it was friggin' working.

And I realize the D was out there all night, hence the last TR TD run. But before that, the D wasn't great. They were out of position on nearly every pass play and I think that is because they were so focused on stopping the run.

Bama dominated LSU is all 3 phases last night. Bottom line. The LSU coaching staff , IMO, get an F on offense, a C- on defense and a D on special teams.

The defense played pretty well, but Chavis was outcoached by Mcelwain, IMO. Mcelwain had a damn good gameplan.

Mcelwain's game plan was good but very simple - put 8 in the box, defend the run sideline to sideline and dare JJ to beat you throwing. Didn't exactly take a genius to figure that out.

I thought the D played average at best.....at best. They never figured out the naked bootleg to the TE which is basically all Bama had.

Bama had three plays.

1. A fade that it basically is a catch or incompletion so it's little risk.

2. Hand off to TR.

3. Naked bootleg pass to TE.

LSU never stopped either pass play and they ran those 3 plays to the tune of 400 yards.

The D looked as ill-prepared as they have all season long.
spot on.

ANY defense that stones the other guys for 5 fricking field goals while their own offense puts up fewer than 75 yards in the same period of time should be fricking given a medal.

Anyone who thinks Chavis coached poorly is an idiot.

The Defense was simply left on the field too long by the offense. If you spend the whole game on defense something has to give. Holding them to field goals most of the game was an accomplishment.

The question is, what diD Miles do for 44 days leading up to the game? did he really think Saban wouldn't have memorized all of LSU's plays in the last go round during that same time period?

Did he really think Saban would not have been able to respond to the exact same series of plays?

If miles had started Lee, it would have thrown a monkey wrench in Saban's whole game paln as LSU would have been able to pass as Lee did on the Oregon game.
