he's a good coach when he's not embarrassing LSU w/ his head up his arse on the sideline.

Probably for most, but I really do.

I enjoy having him as coach for many, many reasons.

And I'd prefer him to just about anyone else out there (including Saban and Meyer).

I wont bag on Les anymore, not that I was extremely vocal about it before.

There is a method to his madness.

He beat Florida on the road, amid all the shots he took in media; spect.

yeah, its mainly called "luck"

Nick Saban may be an a-hole, but he could coach circles around Les Miles.

Look, i like Les Miles too. As a person. Or as the coach of a middle tier BCS school. He isn't on par with what he is paid, nor is he on par with where this university's football program is.

Who would you hire that would guarantee a better record?

yes, to a fault.

At one point it stops being a positive for the team, and becomes a detriment.

my problem w/ him aside from his brain meltdowns are that his teams constantly play up or down to his opponents. They don't consistently play up to their own level, and his image being tied to LSU is often embarrassing. He's got a quote somewhere along the lines ab how he'd rather win w/ luck than by outscheming the other team that typifies his tenure, and I hate that from a HC getting paid what he does to coach in the SEC.

Maybe so, but his records at LSU wouldn't be evidence of that....

For the thousandth time, he inherited a far inferior program to what Miles inherited.

that is kind of a broad question, but I can say definitively that there are at least 6 coaches in the SEC alone that I would rather over Miles.

For all the good that he did in his early years, the last 2 years have been a disaster. This year still remains to be seen.

Maybe a better question who be which coach could lead LSU to back to back 4 and 5 loss seasons?

What coach could give fans heart attacks by barely beating inferior opponents on a regular basis?

And occasionally losing to some(even in his championship season he lost to 2 inferior opp).

Which kind of ELITE coach can have not one, but 2 time management episodes that cost us 1 game and should have cost us another? (seriously, which elite coach have you EVER seen do this?)

Which coach could call a timeout after his team intercepts the ball?

Come the frick on. Im not naming any coaches, but some of the main things I want in a coach is discipline, attention to detail, and someone that can make quick and concise decisions on the field, in the heat of battle.

Right now, ANYONE can recruit at LSU. Anyone!

See what he did at LSU, then at Bama in about 3-4 years, and tell me he isnt the best coach in America.

Les Miles would have been fired now had he inherited what Saban did a decade ago. Saban should be Les's best friend. For real. He built him a recruiting ground that my grandmother couldnt frick up.

Then in reality you have no clue. Ok I can deal with that. You don't like Les Miles but you have no idea who might be better if he were to leave. You post but you have no answers? Why bother? What does it accomplish?

That is not the point.

It's the middle of a season. It's not like the college football coaching landscape is very clear right now. Im not going to start calling for Jon Gruden like some rantards. I have no clue who is ready to coach right now, and who will be available this offseason.

I just said there are 6 guys in the SEC alone that I like better. Use that as a gauge if you are so eager to see where my head is at.

There are you and a handful of other posters who just can't seem to understand what he is saying.

The smart Miles supporters really are not vocal at all at this time. They realize the game we just witnessed is by far not a good example to use when defending him.

All those chiming in at this time are no different than the people who oppose Miles strictly due to his personality and lack of PR awareness.

Liking Les Miles and criticizing his gameday coaching abilities is actually possible, I know that's a hard thing for some to understand. I, personally, don't want high school dropouts flying our country's billion dollar fighter jets, either.

I'm just quirky that way.
