I just do. He may be a goofball, but he's our goofball. I think fits well with the quirky and eccentric culture in Louisiana.

He's not a master tactician in the Nick Saban/Urban Meyer vein. So the frick what? That's not the only aspect of being a good coach.

He believes in his team:

Exhibit A

Exhibit B.

The last two years, he made it hard to believe.

He's still got a lot to prove. But his players love him. He represents the university with class and integrity (even if you think he seems like a bumbling buffoon).

He gets the best out of his guys. He knows how to motivate. I've never seen a Les Miles coached team NOT play hard for him.

As much as he's infuriated me at times, and as much as I'm baffled by some of the things that have occurred, I still believe in the direction we're headed.

And yes, even if we lose two or three more games, I will still love him.

you can say he is not a master technician while i believe he is. Just depends on how you look at it.

it may not have been worded correctly.

i don't, by any means, think he's clueless. the guy clearly knows how to coach.

i just meant guys like saban/meyer are considered the "geniuses" of college football (right or not), and miles is never spoken about in a positive light like that. the only real positive people say about him is that he is gutsy.

Wow! He might perform heart surgery in an emegency, but that doesn't make him a heart surgeon.

Probably for most, but I really do.

I enjoy having him as coach for many, many reasons.

And I'd prefer him to just about anyone else out there (including Saban and Meyer).

The man obviously has a backbone of steel and strength of character to match. I've never met him, but people I know who deal with him on a regular basis think very highly of Les. Anyone who can face the criticism with a smile and plot his own course is to be admired.

I don't know if we will win another BCS championship, but at least we don't have to worry about other school stealing our coach.

+1.He'll be the most successful coach in LSU history before he's done. And he'll get there quicker after he helps Crowten find a job at the end of this season.

I really respect the clean program he runs and the image he projects (as an admirable person). His recruiting is TOP NOTCHED. His ability to hire and retain good assitants seems good at the moment but that could swing either way very quickly.

Player development on the offensive side seems lacking (is this his fault?). Game mangement also needs attention. Public speaking is lacking.

RESULTS ARE GOOD. No denying that.

We still have time to run another play. No doubt. That was a home field time keeper letting the clock run down to 1 second after the catch. It could have stopped at 3, maybe 4 seconds.

that would be considered unlucky then? Considering that the play goes how it is practiced when executed properly? I don't understand the "lucky les" shite. A guy throws a perfect fade into the endzone. Guess what, it's supposed to be caught it was practiced and executed with skill. The guys have practiced the fake fieldgoal probably hundreds of times. It was "unlucky" that it even bounced it the first place. What a bunch of b.s.

Miles knows what kind of team he has and believes in them. He is not hoping they win in the end, he knows they can do it.

THAT IS THE MARK OF A WELL COACHED TEAM

Can't argue with that.

I still hold the belief that the failures of 2008 and 2009 are less on coaching (though they deserve some blame) and more on attrition at key positions.
