So what are the specific criticisms of Les this game?
What should have done or not done?
Did you watch the game?
I did watch the game. 9 first downs. 9.
3-13 on 3rd down.
Jeremy Hill averages over 10 yards per carry and he doesn't even get the ball in the 4th quarter.
Our defense was on the field for 36+ minutes. That is inexcusable.
How many sacks did we give up? 6 or more?

Yes, I did. Can you answer the question?

Tbh, I think I'm ready to take the risk and let Miles go. Yes, our next coach might be 4-8, but at least we can let football go and say we suck instead of constantly being on the cusp of being really good but never getting the job done when it matters. Honestly, i think it would have been a lot less stressful to go 4-8 this year, instead of having to watch that Alabama, Florida, and Clemson game. And yes, I have lived through 4-8 seasons before.

I'm not trying to be ugly but that's just... Uh.... Lets say "un-smart".

Let me ask you a question. Do you think the Clemson defense, ranked 104th in the country, just HAPPENED to show up last night FOR ONCE, OR, LSU's offense, which has shown a PATTERN for being inept and unproductive over more than one season, is just not very good? You choose.

Most teams "rarely win the national championship." Or do you think what Bama is doing now is the only acceptable standard?
You are correct, what I meant here is even when we arguably have a team talented enough to compete and win the nat'l Championship we will still struggle because od his offensive philosophy.

Less Miles is an embarrassment. Get used to this for the next several years. Saban is smiling...

quote:When it happens on 1/9/12 and then again in its way on 12/31/12 both times before a national audience, along with it happening thru most of this football season - I mean LSU's offense being completely inept, directionless, punchless and yet so talented on paper, even the blind can see the fact that Les Miles has no clue on what to do to utilize his talent, maximize his advantage, or win football games big (like we should have been doing all year). A big, big clue showed up in the 2011 season, near the end, when this same coach reinstated the least effective of his two qbs back into the starting role, refused to give the one who'd gotten LSU on a much more productive track all season another minute of play, and immediately, LSU's offensive production began dropping. This year, different qb, but aimless offense. Plus still no real OC. Les Miles' fingerprints all over the scene of the crime. Oh, but he can recruit...
Sports talk guys said it here in the Atl last wk-"I think LSU is the better team, but, they have Miles". Guys, this isn't a negatiger view. It's national perception. For some loyal/blind/rose colored/half full people, perception has finally become reality.

Anyone will tell you that I am probably the biggest Sunshine Pumper on this board, but I think it's time for me to come to the Dark Side. I can't defend him anymore.

I am a 60+ year old Tiger fan . I've had this feeling before. It occured through out the Cholly Mac era. The feeling is we have superior talent and just can't get it done. We will challenge and maybe win occasionally but will never really be elite. Les will stay until the drum beat gets deafening and then he will retire. The program will be depleted and the next coach will have to start over.
This is one of the best post regarding Miles I have seen on this board in years. Very well stated.

I'm not at all sure how the reality of Les' shortcomings could be ignored for so long on this site. I suppose success can be a great deceiver.

I see what you did there.

This guy made my job a little more interesting after 1/9 and will probably be more of the same this year for a bit. I deal with a lot of Judges. I actually had one Judge so irate at Miles that he was demanding that the DA come up with some type of criminal charge so that he could have Miles before his Court. At first, I thought he was joking, but I quickly realized he was serious. This state does not really give much of a shite if the Saints lose. However, let LSU frick up and the whole state has the mullygrubs for at least a week or two. That said, I know he has accomplished a lot, but he is no Nick Saban. I wish there was another one of those floating around out there about now. Know it won't happen, but just dreaming.

We didn't even have RS on the field for one snap...
Posted on 1/1/13 at 5:22 pm to tigerbait2010
Yes good recruiter but that is starting suffer. Players who watch this piss poor design of an offense will not want to come here. We are stuck with him for 2-3 more years.
Posted on 1/1/13 at 5:28 pm to mnstar
LSU is in desperate, desperate need of a an AD who is experienced, smart and has balls.

Stopped defending him once 1/9 happened. Had we made adjustments and lost 10-21 or even 3-21, I'd be able to accept it. Being clearly unprepared in perhaps the biggest LSU game ever and not even making the proper adjustments to at least compete in the second half, really ticked me off. It's quite pathetic having people all over the country contribute our loses to our coach. The team has so much talent and never live up to it. Where is the discipline? Why is a D that is ranked in the top 10 missing so much tackles or getting torn apart by ONE WR all game long? Why is our QB STILL overthrowing WRs? Where the heck is our TEs? Why does our D stay on the field for so long? Why do we keep a guy in the game despite him giving up 6 SACKS? I don't expect national championships every year or even BCS bowl games every year but dammit can we please play like we know what the hell we are doing out there.

Miles' golden years at LSU have passed, and all were won on talent alone. These games should NEVER be this close with the talent comparison. Yet every game is a 2 point spread. We don't drill anyone, not even Towson. We will finish the season Ranked about #15. If we are lucky. Miles sports that BCS ring, but he owes that to Saban. Those guys were too talented to lose. Now you're seeing the Les Miles era of LSU. He will finish a step above Dinardo, but will never be Saban. He has to make major changes to continue to rally the base. What a pathetic season.

I did find that interesting. I guess RS now knows what JL felt like on 1/9.
