I know this has been talked about before, but ...

I don't get why we went the whole first half and allowed 28 points and it looked like our defense was in "bend and then break" mode. This was a relatively inexperienced QB who had never proven that he could throw under pressure and had shown that COULD be very accurate when allowed to set his feet. And yet we rushed 4 at most (3 most of the time) and did the bull-rush circle/contain type of rush the whole first half.

After the first one or two scores, even the least knowledgeable football observer could see that we needed to (or at least should try) to put pressure on the QB by one of many means: blitz, stunt, or simply just a more aggressive rushing style. But we kept doing the same sh1t until halftime.

And then FINALLY in the 3Q, we put pressure and the whole nature of the game changed. I really don't understand. Could the coaching staff not see what EVERYBODY else was seeing in the first half? Were they waiting for halftime to make necessary adjustments?

Look, I'm happy with the win, but I think we took too much risk and made it much closer thanit should have been. But for the INT in the endzone and another goal line stop, (or even if our offense sputtered or turned it over once), this could have been a disastrous loss against a team we were clearly better than.

WHY THE F$CK didn't they make those defensive adjustments sooner?????

You need to paste this into an email and send to Orgeron. I'm sure he'll get this fixed once you've made him aware of the situation.

yep. way too many trips into the rZ.4 TD's. luckily we got a INT and a turnover on downs the other two RZ trips. that is way too many RZ trips however if you want a bend but do not break between the 20's type D you need to keep them out the EZ. trade TD's for FG's.

give up FG's not TD's. it needs to get fixed or just go back to playing the old style from the get go.

Two passes hit our defenders in the hands! Twice that plan put them in third and more than 10. The plan was working. Florida got some breaks, our guys didn't seal the deal with interceptions, and Florida made some great plays. None of this was known until after it happened.

I heard something on the radio, dont remeber who but it made sense.

Basically the person said, Dave knows that Bama has had some issues with zone defense this season and he is trying to get LSU to get better in zone.

So trusting that his defense can turn it on when it needs to he is experimenting more with zone as we can all see LSU isnt that good at it and needs the work.

Dont know what the guy knew or didnt from the inside but it could be a possibility as once Dave dialed up the pressure and went man, the defense shut them down

I didn't get to see the game but watched the replay.
Seems like LSU made the decision to bring more pressure starting with Florida's final drive of the first half. It just didn't pay dividends right away.

this has been Aranda's MO for a long time. He doesn't blitz much in the first half. Don't know why. The good news they had to earn those long drives.

They were also showing up some different looks in the first half that they hadn't shown all season. We seemed to have a hard time adjusting to their four wide-outs on the right side. I told the guys I was around "Aranda is going to fix this during halftime," and he did. We went on to score 21 unanswered points after their first drive of the 2nd half.
